-watch out for the MAX/streetcar tracks! everyone I know has eaten **** on them, regardless of their level of skill on a bike. they got me last spring up by lloyd center when I tried to ride parallel to them. I still have marks on my knees from that spill. they get really really slippery when it's wet. I've even heard of people eating it on them when crossing almost straight across them.

-don't even try to ride on first downtown. it's nothing but max tracks, manhole covers, trench plates, and red bricks/cobblestones. even the messengers are seen riding on the sidewalks on that street.
