This really depends on a lot of factors. State taxes, rent, overhead, electricity, what deals made with what suppliers, etc.
Some people, if in a depressed economy can rent a huge chunk of space for cheap, and keep that rate locked in for years. Others have to lease out a hole in the wall and figure out what stuff in their inventory is the best sellers, and stop selling any other items that don't move as much.
Most bike shops, these figures are highly confidential due to competitive and legal reasons.
