Quick!! Help! Average revenue/cost for a LBS?

I am doing a project for school, and I desperately need a ballpark figure for what the average LBS makes in revenue and what the costs are....

Anybody?? Anything you think would be reasonable. I need this info in like 20 minutes... Help!!

Thanks

Sand

No clue, sorry.

Phone up your LBS.. "Hello, I'd just like to know how much you make yearly.. oh and how much does it REALLY cost you for that Cervelo Soloist frame?"

Anyway, good luck. I'd actually email someone in the bike business, they'd be able to give better info.

This really depends on a lot of factors. State taxes, rent, overhead, electricity, what deals made with what suppliers, etc.

Some people, if in a depressed economy can rent a huge chunk of space for cheap, and keep that rate locked in for years. Others have to lease out a hole in the wall and figure out what stuff in their inventory is the best sellers, and stop selling any other items that don't move as much.

Most bike shops, these figures are highly confidential due to competitive and legal reasons.

Ha. Right. I needed to negotiate a deal at 11:40 at night. Or maybe my project was due at midnight... Besides, I'm asking for total annual revenue and cost, not the cost on a specific bike, man. Chill.

Anyway, I just made some **** up... but this is an ongoing project, so if anyone has actual info, I'd be thrilled.

There is huge variance, but this link will give you the basics of profitability based on sales, etc.

Ah, the art of procrastination. I still fondly remember the days before the Internet was there to bail you out.

My PhD dissertation is due in like 36 minutes. Does anybody have a ballpark cure for cancer?

THanks for the link.. that helps.. a day late, but helpful for future assignments.

As for the ballpark cure... .44 mag?

As a wise man once said, "Smoking reduces the chances of dying from second-hand smoke by 100%. Booyah."

Get someone to scare you suddenly, if that doesn't work, stand on your head and say the alphabet backwards while drinking a glass of water, and if that doesn't work cover yourself in peanut butter and hop around your house on one foot, and if that doesn't work at least your loved ones will have some comic relief.

I work in discovery research(evil big pharma) and I don't think we have tried that yet. I will see what my director thinks.
