GG is amazing stuff to rid of sticky tape residuestick. If you are worried about GG residue, a final wipe with a bit of lighter fluid will do the trick. If using WD40, definitely wipe with lighter fluid afterwards (for taping applications)

Goo Gone is not lighter fluid, feels more like a citrus oil product, not exactly sure what it is, but am sure that it is not lighter fluid
