when i took my bar tape off after having it on there for about a year, there was goo all over it. i tried using rubbing alcohol to take off the stuff, but it seemed to leave tiny pitmarks in the bars, as if it had some how chemically burned into the metal where the goo had been. i thought i was going crazy when it happened...i thought it was just stuck on there good so i used some fine grain steel wool to try and scrub it. but then i really became convinced they were little pockmarks, and that the steel wool wouldn't help that.

am i crazy? has anyone else had bars that became pock-marked from handle bar tape or removal with rubbing alcohol?
