I think you might have been hallucinating with hypoxia and fury at that point.
BTW I think @topflightpro's wife is Jabba's coach.

I wasn't questioning your pace, I'm sure you were crushing it! I just meant the top of Glade is the top of Glade.
BTW next time you do it, for a good time turn right at the top instead of left.

Oh no not at all, I was just trying to say Hoover is a beast! Yeah I sat up at the yellow sign before the little parking lot on the right, which was dumb. There was probably some "**** this ****" running through my head....

I was 2.5 miles into a very tough 3 mile dirt climb (really the hardest climb in the area) when my RD cable snapped leaving me in 40x11. Which is not an ideal climbing gear. Walked up the last of the climb then pedaled 15 miles to the bike shop. Now my legs hurt.

I don't want to start a thread for this, so this is the closest I can think of.
For training - I want a motor assist. Reason is I was to simulate pursuit race speed without pursuit race effort (so doing 300W and pretending it is 500W). I know this is still less than ideal cause at race power the weight on the contact points change, but at least I can test for aero stuff - maybe at real speed. This is similar to the swimming philosophy of using fins on the feet to get the front of the body and stoke used to race speed. Not unlike motor pacing except I want the full wind speed.
What I want is something that sits by rear brake or behind BB with a wheels that drives the rear tire. I think I've seen this, but it just may be a generator. I'm looking for assistance in the 30-35mph zone, ideally good for 100W-200W for 5 min (more time is better). The whole in tube/BB motors are not it and seem covert. This is an obvious - "he's got a motor" training method.
I'd ask the track guys, but have not been so successful there and after a couple years this forum is somewhat used to me.
PS - it will not be used for Strava KOMs - trust me.

Ugh ... local hilly smasher group ride today. Good as always, problems with my rear mech had me struggling in the first sprint and just miss the final one. Couldn't get it to drop down so I was spinnin', but not winning.
Also, our new Masters World Champion Time Trialist came out to smash us all to pieces. Luckily, he took it pretty easy on us and provided a nice lead out into the sprint.

I rode hard until I decided not to, which was like a bit more than half way thru the ride I guess? 8 oreos for 4 hrs and what a terrible idea that was, legs were literally shaking for the last 45min :-| then I got home and peed and thought I gave myself rhabo until I remembered I ate like nearly 2 giant beets last night.

Thursday off. Friday, took off work to pack and get some crap done. Saturday moved to SF, AND had some beers and pizza war the friends after we finished.
But today, before settling in a bit more I took a couple hours to randomly ride around the city, no training targets, no maps. It was really nice. Tried to get to twin peaks and failed, but somehow ran across it later, so I climbed to the top, enjoyed the view, and descended the north side. Hit a street, turned left. Oh climbing again! Hit a street, turned right. Wow, fast descending! Ran into Golden Gate Park. Damn, lots of traffic! Oh, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Fest. Made my way around, rode some dirt, weaved through Presidio, Aimed south and rode through downtown. Found home.
No power, but around 1200 kJ in over 2 hours. Mostly easy with a few mild ish VO2 efforts. Enough to feel like workout, easy enough to feel like exploring.
Came home and went grocery shopping, unpacked a bit more, practiced cooking in this new kitchen, etc.

I haven't ridden much due to travel and 10 days battling a head/chest cold that also came with Pink Eye. But I did get out this weekend.
I got in 3.5 hours on Saturday and another 2.5 on Sunday. Nothing hard, just riding. But this morning, man, are my legs dead. I woke up at 5, planning to get back into my morning workout habit, but when the alarm went off, I couldn't move. I just reset it for an hour and went back to sleep.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Did one of my hardest ever rides this weekend, Devil's Hwy in eastern AZ. It was 97 miles & 12k climbing with some teammates. Really beautiful, quiet roads from desert up into pine trees (even a few patches of snow at the top). Took us about 6.5 hours which wold be one of my longest days in the saddle.

I've even got beet juice in the work fridge. Beet-doping my training is the next attempt to get stronger.

I thought I might have bladder cancer until I remembered I'd eaten half a jar of pickled beets the day before.

Another weekend featuring 8hrs+ of riding (456 TSS) to give me close to 17hrs (w/o commutes) and 920 TSS for the week. I ended up backdating a FTP bump midweek post-analysis because I felt I was starting to accumulate TSS too easily. Completely different than a month or two ago - a nice block of consistent training means I am no longer constantly feeling like I'm struggling to hit my hourly targets. I'm now riding pretty close to what I was doing last fall, but this time I've been able to do it while still doing some running on the side which makes things a little more tricky.
I ended up riding with some other cyclists on both Saturday and Sunday which was a big departure from my usual solo endeavors. I find it to be incredibly different - I don't have full control over my pace, and I end up having to pedal harder than I usually would at times which I apparently rely on for recovery (ie/ anywhere that isn't a climb!). Negative false flats or pedalling descents are especially difficult - I find it tough to even hold wheels, let alone coming around for a pull. However, the company is nice and I think the areas I have difficulty with are clearly areas I need to improve, so overall its been a really positive experience.

Ack, that's a nasty schedule. The taxing thing about Triathlon training is in addition to those long hours, the prep time of going to the pool, changing for the bike, run, etc adds on another 2-3 hours.

I'm waiting for some non-horrible pictures to surface, but @scheibo just beat me in a hillclimb and finished 4 out of like 120 men, so he's somehow managing that training load. I cannot fathom, but maybe if I were 10 years younger without babies. Maybe.
