that's a recovery check... it's means you are... "good" to hammer.

Since I'm not mentally fried I got the OK from the coach to keep training instead of taking a break. Instead of starting a 10 day layoff I'm gonna go do a longish unstructured thing and see where I wind up along the way.

Go out and have some fun riding. Think of it as an extended recovery ride.

Clearly, my system is stressed. About 10 miles in, I started overheating. Cut the ride in half to 36 mediumish pace miles.

Ditto on ride for fun, and ditto on mollusk heal up!

160-161 depending on the morning. 157 after this idiotic slog of a ride. Drankin that purple stuff and eating like a mad man.

I weighed a bunch more than that when I was in race shape. Chapeau!

Its been a pretty fail week; not going to hit my numbers by a long shot. Rain, chores, and the wife dragging me to a concert last night (which was pretty cool) diverted enough of my sleep and time that I just either didn't have the time or energy to do well. I've been so focused on cycling though that some of my husbandly duties have went by the wayside and this is the week I had to pay my due.

I'm ready to start base training, next week, unlike you New Englanders.

FTP test on Tuesday! Pacing for this one should be interesting... Exactly how weak am I right now?

I'm 160lbs, and I srsly doubt that my FTP is much more than 10w higher then 260 right now.

I am pretty fat right now though.

Pulled off the elusive Tour de Phred / Nyack ride double win. Nyack was good as it's the first time I've done their long summer route in many years, and there were a few pure climbers who made the finishing climb hard. I was able to bridge to the last attack though, and then shift to the big ring and sprint for the line.

11:30 and 650 TSS for the week.

Forest Falls Group Ride; **** that hill. Bout 26 miles 5k feet of climbing total but the actual climb is the last 10.5 / 3300 ft. Its a steady ascent til you hit the turnoff then you get the 8% false flats with a ton of steep junk mixed in. I seriously considered just walking my bike up some of those sections. The two nice things is that its 30 degrees cooler and the ride is essentially over at the top (all downhill to Redlands).

Wasn't great week on the bike for me, wasn't fresh and couldn't get a good nights sleep.

It's all relative. I've got lots of work to put in this winter to be competitive.

I felt pretty solid today so instead of recovery I did some unstructured climbing at race pace and some climbing at snail pace.

I think I'm going to do an ftp test on Wednesday. I haven't done a real one since 01/04/15.

2.5hrs avg 193w (216 NP) (for context FTP 250), a combo of day off yesterday and adjusting my saddle nose down a bit helped give me a little more oomph. definitely feeling good. It was the perfect late summer/early fall day here. I even skipped a good Pats game to ride
