Good job on maintaining the stereotype that people from So-Cal are stuck up dick wads.

Final 200m from Saturday's crit. I'm on the right of the photo (w/black helmet). My friend (#661) was in 3rd postition when the guy up front changed direction. Broken collarbone and scapula ... my other buddy who was right behind me lost 4 teeth in this mess I went over #697's rear wheel and stayed up for 15th place.

More photos of crash here. The crash is also on youtube and vimeo (search Land Park Criterium)

Yeah. I was warming up about 20 feet from that. They brought the ambulance and everything. I was selfishly hoping they would get out of there before my wife and kids showed up. I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Gravel, pot holes and metal plates. Dixie is an acquired taste. Me? I love it. Dead flat and usually windy enough to keep things fairly equalized.

What did your buddies think of it?

Ehhh, things didn't go so well for them this time around. Maybe next time, if their races go better, they'll be able to be more enthusiastic about it.

I like Dixie because the A race tends to bring out some of the Time guys, which means a pretty decent pace and some solid attacks to deal with.

He did a good job considering he was relatively unhurt afterwards. Just scrapes and bruises. Doubt he had enough time to bunny hop, and he probably would have really hurt himself had he tried it.

Yeah, the guy is a monster. He took 2nd at Bariani the next day.

It's hard not to question why he changed direction like that. That's bike racing I guess. My friends are doing better, one is off the bike for 2 months, the other will be back in the saddle soon, but his teeth will be about a 6-9 month ordeal. Thanks for the good wishes.
