Screw it, im done game over

I'm 17 years old and I've been racing for 5 years now, currently I am a 3 with enough points to upgrade to a 2. Instead of upgrading I think I am gonna leave. I have a crappy team with crappy leadership, a hell hole of an institution where hard work, experience, and a willingness to work for other teammates dosent get you anywhere. My coach is a dick who dosent care about you unless you're putting money in his pocket. I understand the coaching fee's I understand the team kits, but it is not a requirement to pay for coaching to ride for my team.

Screw him, Screw my crappy team mates who do nothing but throw money at the sport to get faster, and finally screw all of the people who stab you in the back when some new pretentious kid comes around.

I can tell all of you guys from experience, this sport has nothing to give you unless you have money. . 0001% will go pro, there is no reason to bother trying.

I'd also like to give anther big shout out to all of those 40 year old cat-4 riders riding the zipps and full carbon bikes, you guys suck way too much to be riding that stuff. Really, you take yourselves way too seriously, lighten the F**** up.

Just for the record, Im not just mad because I lost some race, I've actually been quite sucessful this year. I've won a few races despite my F*** tard team mates attempting to chase me down. I'm mad at my coach, my team mates, and frankly all of the local jerkoff 40 year old cat 4's and 5's who think they're seriously hot ****.

I'm washing my hands of this.

Flame me, dont flame me, debate the issue, I dont care. Thats how I feel, I just thought I'd tell the world. I would really love to name names, give specific details, but I feel that despite every way they've F**** me, that would not be fair.

Take heed, the racing is not fair in the state of Kansas.

Kansas? I used to live and ride in Kansas. There's real racing in Kansas**********

Maybe a bigger perspective is in order.

Boggles the mind.

The kid is 17. Clearly he needs more perspective.

Aw give the kid a break. I bet his dad is a hard core cat 6 little league dad. I see 'em all the time here in the "affluent North Dallas suburbs".

I mean c'mon, 12 year olds riding bikes that cost more than mine, with carbon wheels?

OP: If that's the way you view your world, you're right.

Alternatively, you could ask questions like "why are others getting things that I'm not?"
Or
"Why am I really doing this? For my dad? For me?"

You ABSOLUTELY should quit. When I was your age, I routinely destroyed guys who had the same attitude as you. I went on to race in Europe for a few summers and all of those little cry-babies with chips on their shoulders continued to be miserable while focusing on others instead of themselves.

Get out now and take up tennis or something. You'll be happier in the long run.

By the way, I'm now a 41-year-old triathlete with a set of Zipp 404's that I use for racing. I earned the money over the years and there's no reason for me to apologize for spending it on stuff I want. Get over it.

You didn't expect Pcad, Cycling Zen Master of Self Loathing, to argue with you about this did you? At the risk of feeding your impressive self-pity, I thought I'd show you the most recent addition this to the Cat 4 50+ (ah, 40+, those were the days) veloschwag in my garage:

By the way, I don't think I take myself seriously, but you might want to Lighten the F Up yourself.

Good idea kid, take a break. No sense doing it if it ain't fun any more. Then, someday you'll be one of those 40 somethings looking to get back what you threw away when you were still young and had potential.

Well then just switch teams and stop being such a little b*tch. Seems you're putting all the blame on your teammates when its probably just you that suck, in which case switching teams wont help you but at least then you can come up with a new excuse of why you are a loser and then b*tch about that.

Man, I don't get that bitter until usually around late August, early September. Burn-out is a *****.

Kid, if your team mates chased you down you have a real gripe, otherwise take a break from the bike for a few days. Go do something else. Go sneak into a bar. You won't lose any fitness and you might last the season.

I've seen a lot of juniors walk away from the sport because they were in a similar position to where you are now. This is a bad thing for so many reasons. Many of those guys started riding again in the 30's and 40's: The people you are talking to on BF. The 4s and 5s with Zipps (These guys fund the sport BTW. If they stop buying stuff racing stops for everyone. Zipps all round!).

I'm sure you feel it sucks to be you right now in many ways. There are those who would be grateful to have your problems.

Like I said, take a break but don't walk away. It just makes it easier next time. If you really want to leave the sport don't do it in anger.

And oh yeah, I walked 20km to school each day in snow up to here.

Dude, just have fun.

If you arn't....then....just.....let.....it.....go.

I played soccer for 15 years. I played at the highest levels (top club teams, ODP, and other crap). I got burnt out.

In my last few soccer years, I was not having fun. Instead, I gave it up and picked up cycling. It's been the BEST choice I have ever made thus far in my life.

If you think it's HARD to be a pro cyclist, think again. The percentage of soccer players going pro is even less than cyclists going pro.

It's that tough when soccer is the biggest game in the world.

Other than that, just do something else.
