I've done that race...it's good. Windy like Leland but hillier. Really rough.

+3 hrs drive, 9 am start...that one's a maybe.

just checked...yep same course. tail wind for 3-4 miles (I remember doing 46mph there), crosswind in two different sections for 2-3 and 3 miles and headwind for the last 2. I may do that one...maybe.

Weight doesn't matter. Just take a big dump and train harder

I'm making a weekend of it. I watched the crit (Sunday) two years in a row while going to school there and never had the nuts to actually start racing until I was done. Should be a good time.

I thought i had a good 10 seconds opened up, so i sat up, did a quick celebration, and people were like, they are coming up. I hurried my ass over the finish line for first with 3-5 seconds to spare. This could have been embarrassing.
Congrats. You must be upgrading to C's then?

wells ave training crit.

wet and fun!!

did not win.

tried to bridge to break early on, like this:

FAILED BRIDGE ATTEMPT:
Duration: 9:37
Work: 211 kJ
TSS: 18.6 (intensity factor 1.078)
Norm Power: 391
VI: 1.07
Pw:HR: n/a
Pa:HR: n/a
Distance: 4.023 mi
Min Max Avg
Power: 0 1189 367 watts
Cadence: 59 141 97 rpm
Speed: 21.3 32 25.1 mph

fail.

did a bunch of super hard 30-120" efforts, a few leadouts and a failled 2' preme effort.

Ptap quit after recording my failed bridge effort, due to rain. But as stated, it was fun!

Average speed today... 25.1?

Won Juniors 17-18 yesterday at a TT. The course was modified for construction, which meant the finish was 500 feet lower than the start, so it was super fast. 11.77 miles in 25:40 minutes, 27.5mph average. The P-1-2 winner was smoking along at 32mph and then won the TTT later in the day(although it was raining during the TTT and his time was slower)

if I go, we'll get a room for friday...can't stay to do the crit on sunday, though.

Good luck. You should do well in both. Relatively small lower cat fields from what I remember.

Collegiate RR and Crit at UNL this weekend. This was my second weekend racing.

Raced D in both the RR and Crit. The finish to the road race was around a corner and I misjudged how far it was. Sprinted way to early and ended up getting passed to take second. The crit course started out with a pretty decent downhill, then stayed flat for most of the time. It ended with a fairly steep hill into the finish line. I won two primes and the race. I'll be upgrading to C for next weekend at U of M.

Santa Cruz classic crit today, e4's.

64 starters, pack finish (25-30?). There was a hill right before the finish. 520W+ for 20s every. single. lap. When I rolled through the start finish with 8 to go showing (20 laps, 2 minute laps), I had to swallow the little bit of vomit that had come up. I thought I was done 4 laps in, but hung on and 'enjoyed' the ride.

243 AP, 307NP for 41 minutes. sheesh.

Currently there's a 3-way tie for 1st. TT this afternoon. - 2 of which are me and my teammate. we're also reasonable TTers, so we'll see how this plays out.

Good work. I raced that course when I was in college. I hated that climb.

I did that race a few years ago. The hill he's talking about is a wall. It's a wild crit, half of each lap screaming down hill and half chugging up that wall.

I hope CDR doesn't mind me posting this, but he snagged 1st in GC at his Bethel Spring Series today. He was in 2nd overall going into the race, but with a nice finishing assault up the hill to the finish, he gained several spots on the leader and snagged the overall win ! I wanted to help, but I was useless out there. I was able to see him off in the distance getting a nice gap over the other guy. Not sure of the specific placings ... I'm sure he can fill in the details.

Bethel 4 and 3/4 crits today. Legs felt good, but I was still pack fodder in both races (more of a tailgunner in the 3/4). I was happy to just not get dropped. Definitely one of the faster Bethels of the series (at least of the ones I have done). Rain held out (thankfully) and the team shut down the 3/4 race and Aki rode awesome, congrats!

Lots of tense riding and some close calls today as well (especially in the 4 race), but I think my pack handling skills are improving. Someone someone's wheel lost half its spokes in the 4 race, I was probably 4 wheels back - but I managed to keep my cool, slow down with control, hold my line, and avoid hitting the guy in front of me.

Met a BF peep in the 3/4 race. I forget his handle but he rides an alu orbea starship.

Overall a good day of racing.

Good show. I couldn't make it out, but I'll 100% be at one or more of the training crits hanging out and taking pictures.

Yea! That's his handle, I couldn't remember it. He seems like a good dude, I didn't know he was from around here. He came up to me in the 3/4 and was like "yo, where's the specialized?" It took me a few moments to realize where I new his bike from haha.

Saturday: Raced a crit in 35˚ and rain, hated every minute. Made sure I beat the guy behind me in the conference. All is good.

Today was the Airforce RR, using many of the same roads as the '86 Worlds course. Kickass race. Well over 1k ft of climbing per lap, we did 5 laps. My job was simply to watch the strong guys and win the sprint from whatever small group we had left. I did that, but had a teammate and one other guy up the road (I sent him up on the flat part to take the pressure off my team), so had to settle for 3rd.

We whittled the field down from about 50 to 10 or so. I was never under any difficulty, legs felt great, and responded to a couple attacks from the two best climbers in the conference with ease. Going to rest for a few days, then Conference Finals next weekend. Three weeks to Nationals. I'm pumped.

Also, since I beat Caleb Fairly out of a breakaway of 4 last weekend, I won Battenkill today as far as I'm concerned

Dogwood Arts Festival TT and Crit in Knoxville today. Both run on the same course, the TT is just 1.5 laps around for ~2.5k.

Absolutely brutal course; the home stretch is a short false flat into a screaming downhill with a sweeping left at the bottom. The back stretch is a nasty climb with a headwind howling down it. Horrible; it's an unusual crit course in that hanging in the pack with the 4's actually requires some strength.

Did a terrible job pacing on the TT, didn't realize it finished on the back stretch until I was basically there. DFL, 9/9. I'm crap in TTs though, and in bad form, so I doubt I would have been able to do better than 8th anyway.

The crit was a bit better. A bunch more folks lined up, so there were some bodies to draft behind. It was absolutely necessary, the wind was killing me almost as bad as the hill. I raced as smart as I could with one massive team (6+ riders?) constantly attacking and keeping things strung out for most of the race. I was hoping to follow wheels and make a jump on the false flat to try for a place; downhill sprints don't really favor my 125 lb self. In the end, the constant climbing, wind and surging killed my legs. I lost the group ahead of me on turn 3 of the bell lap and zoomed down the hill at 40 mph to take 12th. Mid-pack, but I'm pleased with that result given my lack of form and the sadistic course. I'm getting stronger.

Attacked from the gun. Got caught. Tried a solo flyer. Got caught. Tried to bridge. Got chased down. So I won the 500m uphill field sprint (by a bike throw. that's what I get for sprinting uphill in the 53xeither 13 or 14, don't remember, but it was way too big a gear)
