congrats. you finished in a respectable position and with the rubber side down on your first race. that's a lot more than what most could say. more common races pale compared to this as this.

Overall, I'd say both days were pretty brutal. The road race was pretty epic though, and was by far the most scenic of the season. I think I went over 50mph on some descents.

[QUOTE=neuronal;10726190]The Sunday road race was not the kind of race where you wouldn't end with rubber side down. The Saturday crit on the other hand... There was one corner where a ton of crashes happened. It was just a crashfest overall. The Men's A 2nd place guy from UVM actually unclipped from his pedals as he crossed the line and bounced (that's right, bounced like a rubber ball) into the spectators. You can see the picture on Velocity Results.

I failed Devil's Punchbowl. I already got dropped by main group at the climb and boinked at the 3rd lap. At least I finished and not dead last.
I learned that I was too conversative on my feeds and I wish there was someone at the feeding zone to hand me more water.
But I dont know why it seems harder to climb there than when I was training at Newport Coast/Ridge Park.
My next race is San Luis Rey this Sunday....it shouldnt be too hard since the climb is not that bad. Ill just chew some more power bars and get someone to hand me more water....

The climb is not that bad but that just means that the pace is faster & there are more "bigger" guys that can power through it. I don't know your size but if you find yourself falling off the back find a few of those "bigger" guys and help them to the turnaround. Once you're headed back downhill they can help you get back to the group.

The results were posted from my sat race that I thought I did really bad on. 23rd out of 41 starters and 27 around for the final lap (I guess a few got pulled), better than I thought, but still bad.

@Aerodee80... tip for Devil's Punchbowl feedzone w/o support. Next time, park your car on the climb just after the start/finish line and put a water bottles on the hood and driver's mirror. Each lap you can grab one.
This is tougher to do at San Luis Rey, but there you don't have to contend with the heat and can get away with two bottles and gel... Keep in mind, even though the climb is easier than at Punchbowl, the tempo is much higher. Good luck...

Edit: nevermind, I see it says same as '09 route. Lame.

as one of my teammates put it, "A riders, they are just like intros."
edit: what happened to the field on the final lap? i saw ten riders gapping the field pretty good. was there a crash on the back stretch?

I still haven't decided if I'll do it. I won't be in any condition to compete. If I go it will only be to help a teammate by hammering the climb for a few minutes and then pulling out.

63/121 at Quabbin. Better than I expected - I'm actually kind of pumped. I guess the pack really did shell a lot of riders in the early miles.

I did the Cat 4 Race
Im 5 ' 6'' at 140 lbs and a sprinter. I just started to finish Como St with the front group consistently since March and still have gas for sprints.
Im gonna go to San Luis at Sat to preview the course and so i dont get any suprises.
sea level elevation is a big difference vs 3600 Ft asl on performance?

San Luis starts&finish near sea level, hopefully this doesnt get me this time. Ill grab one of my friends for the feed zone, I think if I leave the stuff on top of my car...someone else will swipe them before me along with the mirror plus a gash.
