Yeah, I'm going to go sit outside and read for a while. I;m waiting for friends to get off work to go ride this evening.

He puts the miles in though because I've run into him on all of the popular and not so popular routes.

My edit bay is freezing. I have on a sweater and medium weight jacket. I'm glad I don't have windows to see how nice it is outside...enjoy it while you can there is a cold front moving in on Friday night.

This hasn't happened yet, maybe in a few months when I turn 40. There have been a few rides these past few weeks that made me wonder what the heck I was doing out on the road.

No doubt. I also purposely maintain this insulating layer of body fat to get me through my morning workouts. At least that's the story I tell myself.

In the 60's this morning. No wind. I decided to sit inside and stare at my blue ankle.

In a recent interview discussing the looming end to his career and his desire to continue riding a bike for riding's sake, Hincapie was asked "How much do you think you'd ride after you retire"

"Nothing major, probably just a few hours a day"

So one of the subjects in the documentary i'm working on described a typical lunch at Sonic to the dietician. Chicken Toaster Sandwich...chili cheese tater tots...jalapeno poppers..and a shake. The dietician adds up the fat and illustrates it by filling a container with Crisco...over 1 cup of fat. Honestly I'd imagine that quite a few people would look at that meal and not think it was all that out of the ordinary to order that at a fast food restaurant.

Every time I see a Sonic commercial I am more convinced that they are part of a secret program to kill people through obesity.

When I was young (say mid-1980's and earlier) I thought of my body as an incinerator in the sense that even if I threw really horrible stuff into it, it wouldn't matter because tomorrow I was going out to ride a gazillion miles and burn it all up. Way back then I was occasionally eating Sonic Jalapeno Burgers. Looking back at that I think that I was wrong, but boy did they taste great.

some of the burgers I saw on the Carl's Jr. menu when I was last in LA made me wince. I had a mushroom burger and it was pretty tasty but it took residence in my stomach for a few days.

I was overweight until my early 20s so there was no confusing my body with an incinerator.....I was a land fill. The crap I ate sure tasted good though.

How do you define "culture"? Is that something like a "throat culture"?
