We ARE the at risk population for this, especially since we're on campuses where things spread like wild-fire.

although he doesn't speak much of piano technique, I find his comments on performing and recording very interesting.

was thinking of doing it last year, but didn't. thinking it's worth doing this year.
just got an info packed email from a friend of mine, detailing the do's and don'ts. she's a cyclist/yoga instructor - who happened to advise against bikram btw. at least at this point, which is beginner. her advice was 1. do a one on one to start out with, and 2. Iyengar.
it's all batüwü griekgriek to me.

What are your goals? If you're looking for just strengthening and flexibility, learning any of a number of asana's can do that. Any Hatha or Iyengar class can probably help, the difference being that Iyengar will often incorporate tools like blocks/ropes to help with the poses and Hatha is just using the resistance of your own body.
Oh yeah, I keep telling most of the college kids I know that yoga classes are also great places to meet women.

stole your bike
My wife's a Bikram yoga instructor so I get to go for free when I do practice it. She likes to take different types of yoga as well to mix it up because doing the same 26 postures gets a little old even though Bikram claims they're all you need.

My wife is about as flexible as a broom stick. She's always complaining about her posture and pains here and there. I tell he what she needs to do. But does she do it? Nope.

Yeah, Bikram's been described as "rambo yoga" -- it's not for the timid. But I find that usually by the time we get into the tree pose, I sort of space out and my body just does it's thing. It's also really good for flexibility due to the heat of the room (100f).

the friend who's advising me (pity she's in a 2 hour flight away) is pretty adamant that i avoid bikram. in her words "too much like aerobics and the greatest potential for injury." seeing as she gives lessons to guys we watch on TV, i trust her opinion.
