Home for the weekend. Mom is doing great and is up and about even though she's still hurting.

Lots of family here. It's nice to be back.

Still gotta study for a bit, but my cousins that are over all have some to do as well. So I think we might all hit it up in the evening while the growned ups sit around and talk.

For now, watching college ball. Some awesome games on! Louisville WV was rad. Now watching ND UCONN Oh my!

Just back from a sail. Called my dad when I got back in to let him know. My mom is on her way home for a few days. My grandmother isn't doing well and my uncle lost his job.

Grandmother is 90, sometimes forgets what year it is (she thought it was 1971 earlier this week). Getting senile it seems. My uncle is 64.5 years old, has been working at Lowe's for 11.5 years. He was the senior man in his department, getting paid the most, and close to retirement. So they fired him to save themselves some money. He gets a severance package, but I doubt it's all that great. Terrible, but not that surprising.

My parent's generation is still under the impression that companies give a **** about their employees. I've seen enough to know not to trust companies. I'd rather work as a contractor, put my own retirement money away, and not have any doubt that they don't care about me.

Awful quiet around here these days.
Started on a ride that I've been looking forward to and near the summit of the second climb my seat rail broke. I rode home standing and twisting to one side, got my mtb and headed to a local riding area where I found an old friend just getting started.
We did a couple hours of hard climbs and I'm pretty wiped out.

Easy spin on the trainer this morning. Watched a movie.
Tomorrow is my 13 year anniversary with my wife. It's strange really. I'm very glad I married her. I hate what happened - what she did. It still hurts me to the core. There's still a ton of questions rolling around in my mind but I'm not the sort of person who wants answers sometimes. I just let it be the way it be. Every so often I'll ask sommething and she'll answer. Then I kind of regret asking because of how I feel.

Now about racing. I feel strange because I'm not racing much at all. I've done 1/3 of what I've done this time last year. But!!! I've never placed in a Masters race and I've already placed in two. So that's pretty awesome. My training is good - I'm not going overboard. Now if I can get this diet thing going I'd feel a lot better. I'm down 10lbs from Christmas. I need 5-8 pounds to be shed now.

Trying hard to not resent the weather. Yesterday was beautiful: warm, breezy, big fluffy clouds. I skipped the River Ride so I could take Lucas to baseball practice and to run a bunch of errands for my wife. Today, my whole day is clear so of course it's pouring rain.

Fenders or trainer?

Unless absolutely unavoidable, if this ever happens I try and get back to sleep to finish off the cycle. I hate when that happens and I can't finish the cycle. I don't have kids so I don't understand, but I can sympathize. So my sympathies.

This place has been pretty dead this weekend. Today was raining, and ugly all day. Did the crossword. Got a phone number from a match.com girl I've been e-mailing.

Thinking about buying a condo. The condo below our condo is for sale by HUD, from a defaulted FHA loan. Only $30k. Gonna talk to a realtor tomorrow and take a look at it. I have until next Sunday to make an offer. My parents and I would use it to store stuff so that we could clean out our condo. I could keep bikes and stuff down there. And have a place to work on bikes.

At $30k I think I can probably flip it after a year or so if I want to move somewhere. (have to live in it for a year to qualify as an owner/live in, as opposed to investor, which allows you to bid early). It's all complicated.

Now I know who to never ****ing live with again.

Seriously, if you haven't paid bills to someone in 3 months how the hell can you argue about it and say you already paid it to someone else (which the person didn't).

So. So. So. Done.

Good times.

Hope you started racing early in your collegiate career and that you have at least a couple more seasons to go.

I had three road seasons with 5+ weekends each year. There were so many good memories I will never forget, and the greater half of them weren't even during an actual race.

thankfully I'm a freshman, so I'll get at least 4 seasons under my belt. We are trying to do 10 weekends of racing this year, and hopefully we will continue to be able to do that throughout my stay here. then hopefully I can delay my entry into the real world even longer by going to grad school, hehe.

mtb with fenders. That's what I rode yesterday morning in the rain. I use it as my sloppy weather road bike.
