DiLuca going to attack uphill?

mike9903 05-28-09 09:01 AM

How could Julian Dean miss that move, if he makes it he is pretty much guaranteed the stage win?

CrimsonKarter21 05-28-09 09:02 AM

That was Danny Pate

bdcheung 05-28-09 09:03 AM

nope, no move from diluca

Ugh. Pate, as usual, looked strong but failed to deliver. I don't even know what McCartney was doing.

Looked like McCartney's legs had lost their speed towards the end. Slowly pulling away was the only he could have won, but with all the others - that wasn't going to happen.

Was talking about the separation from the break.

It wasn't exactly an organized move. More like a detonation and see who survives. He didn't. This was a total slugfest.

Panic 05-28-09 09:15 AM

That was fun to watch. Tomorrow, more soul crushing on tap.

SushiJoe 05-28-09 09:17 AM

I do enjoy the soul crushing.

We are kindred spirits, you and I. :D

My soul comes pre-crushed, so I've got that going for me.

Just eliminating the middle man there.

That's typical of you...taking the easy way out...

True...however I am Swissy.

Having one's soul crushed on a bike suggests you've reached a competitive peak and have had your limitations displayed to you by a competitor in blunt fashion. I've yet to reach my peak, so I can't say I know what it's like to have my soul crushed. About the closest I get is when I'm on a potential record run on a training loop and I'm forced to slow down on a descent because of traffic. More of an inconvenience than a crushing.

I wasn't at a 'peak' at this years Ft Davis stage race but the guy who won our cat crushed the entire fields collective soul. At the base of the climb on stage 1 he just rode away from the group and put 4 min into second place. The TT that afternoon he posted the 4th fasted time of any cat, only getting beat by 2 pro's and Racer Ex. Sunday stage 3 he dropped his chain at the base of the climb, calmly got off his bike fixed it and then caught and dropped us again. I felt crushed.

No disrespect at all, but when I read that, the mental image made me laugh out loud!
There are just freaks on bikes out there. None of them happened to be named SushiJoe, however.
Great example of soul crushing.

Mine happens to be when I ride with a buddy of mine. One ride, I had about 1,300 miles for the year and I think he had 200. He rode me off his wheel at will throughout the ride. Humbling. :o

It was his second road race..he's a top level tri guy so he did the 35+ 4/5 race. The rest of us in the top 10 on GC were all within the same minute...and then there was Patrick...

I understand, and I'm genuinely sorry. The solution, though, from what I hear and read, is more guatts.

KiddSisko 05-28-09 06:33 PM

Just saw the "antler guy" video clip on universalsports.com. He's a nutter. Why I didn't suspect that until seeing him speak is puzzling.

This is a beautiful story, yet tragic - but funny, very funny. Well told, very well told.
