I started doing cross this year. So far pretty casually, just to get outside and have some fun.
I do like that my riding isn't as aimless as it normally is this time of year.

With the cold, decided to just go hiking. 2 hours, that was nice. Worked up a little sweat, but didn't push myself.

nice - something special about those solo 100's...
1 hour today, felt a bit sick still, started EZ for the first half then the whole ride turned into a reverse split and by the end of the hour I was up in anaerobic land...

4 hours cruising along w no HRM.
kept it easy but kept the cadence up.
just totally enjoying the weather and the fitness and tying to stave off winter weight gains.
looking back, every other year, i've gained my 10 pounds of winter weight mostly in september. i attribute this to cutting a little too loose after race season ends.
this year sept is almost over and i'm still basically at race weight (sub 160).
thats pretty promising.

Four hours yesterday - tackled a loop with a few hefty climbs I'd been wanting to do for a while. Was annoyed that the legs seemed blah before I even hit the climbs, and had very little left in the last 20 miles. I was ready to blame a virus that's been going around our family for lack-luster performance, but GC told me I'd done about as well as I've ever done for that duration. So once again, it's all in the head.

Sat 10 hours at work followed by hammering up north Cheyenne canyon before the sun set (3.5 mi avg of 8.5% climb)
Sun - 8 hours at work followed by the incline, a steep stair like thing cut into the side of a mountain
Monday - 80 mile ride in the mountains, about 8000' o climbing...
legs are a bit sore

Rest week last week.
Sunday 4.5 hours and crushed my poor training partner, actually felt bad
Another 3 hours so far this week.
Feeling like a bike racer again. Lightest I have been in a long, long time.

Good SST ride today with some digs on small hills. Legs felt good after a couple of days off and my chest and lungs actually didn't feel too bad.I could actually get that "catch my breath" feeling a few times which has been foreign to me for quite some time. Hopefully whatever undiagnosable junk I've had for several months is clearing out!
Also appears I might have to raise my FTP. 105.7 TSS in 58:34. That's makes me smile. Maybe I'll retest after next rest week.

1,5 hrs on the mtb yesterday. Set a PR on two of the strava segments, one was because a huge log had been removed, the other actual skills/fitness related.
I'm gunning for KOM on one of them. I need to drop like 20 seconds off a 4:30 time. The problem is getting a run-through without joggers and dogs.
I'm looking for another 1.5 hrs mtbing today as well.

had some nerve/muscle spasming and pain issues in my lower back for the last week to the point I could barely ride. felt like electric shocks going down my back and legs and super bad aching pains in my lower back. went to the sports medicine doctors on campus and got my back worked on really good (diagnostics, massage, some other specific treatments). have to see the chiropractor tomorrow to make sure it isn't a disc issue and also getting acupuncture to see if it helps. no riding for a little while
