My office also has a really nice gym that is free for all employees. I only know of 2 or 3 people that use it. I mean, even I use it for core/leg work this offseason and ride my bike 10+ hours a week. There really is no excuse for most of these people not to spend an hour at lunch (that we aren't paid for) going down to the gym and getting a nice workout in. If I was a normal person (not addicted to cycling), I could maintain really good fitness going to the gym for 45min to 1hr every day during lunch.

Yep, lunch is when all my interval training happens. People generally know that if they want me at a meeting at lunchtime, everyone will need a bike. I've only had one coworker join me for a ride to chat about business. I kept him gassed enough that I didn't hear anything after the first minute.

Did a 25 miler yesterday and a 70 miler today. Today's ride was a bit crazy for me. I rode with a new group for the first time and they were going at it pretty hard. My legs were slightly sore from yesterday, also. I need to ride more with these guys so I can get stronger...

4 hour with the team when a mate and I were descending a 15% grade and hit a right hander. I crashed big time. Luckily the bike took the hit and I walked away a little bruised. Bye bye supersix. : (

Count your blessings robabeatle.

I spent 30 minutes on sear, then an hour in the crock pot.

I never rode this particular climb before. Absolutely stunning climb in the high desert up to 5000 ft in the presence of a 9k+ mtn. I was pushing hard up to the top and we pretty much just turned around and started to descend. I “should have known better” than to descend at that pace on a new road. I am really happy that I am okay ,my shoulder is a little stiff but not even that bad. I started the transfer of some items to another frame (Caad 7) and will definitely be on the look out for another supersix hi mod (used). Thanks everyone.

well after a week of complete rest my tsb is at 47.9, atl is 26.2, and ctl is at 76.6. I'm ready to start riding again. Luckily all the week i missed was a week filled with rain and non-stop work, so i rally wouldn't have been able to ride more than a couple of hours.

6 weeks off the bike healing a bunch of broken bones after a nasty crash. I'm not 2 rides in. The first ride was 45 mins on the trainer, some low tempo intervals. It felt better than expected. Yesterday, I did about 2 hours outside and had a blast. I felt way stronger than I would have thought. That being said, my FTP dropped from 340 to around 250 - there's a lot of work to do be done, but plenty of time to get there. I was even able to throw in a couple 400+ watt short climbs with no pain from any of my injury areas. My fitness sucks though, and my behind is certainly not used to the saddle yet.

The plan is to treat base 1 and 2 just like I was simply coming off of poor fitness, while carefully watching my injuries. Since I broke my leg, the plyo I intended to do this winter is off the table until probably too late, so I'm planning to focus on core strength and flexibility. By the time I get to build, I hope to be able to just train as I need to.

4.3 hour team ride. I felt only a little sore today and rode quite well. A mate helped me gain some confidence on the descent as well. Tomorrow: Rest!

About 3.5 hours this morning - thank goodness for the time change, it was still cold when I headed out but at least it was light. First 2.5 hours on my own, hit a few climbs. Then met up with the local hammer ride, and finished out at speed, just barely hanging on when it got zippy. Feeling decidedly unstrong these days, even though according to GoldenCheetah I've not lost much in the way of CTL. Weather will force a greater reduction in training load soon enough (I'm not big on training indoors), so I'm trying to keep up the training volume (and some intensity) even though I probably should work some rest into the schedule according to the books of training wisdom.

Good for you. I remember just freezing up on descents after my first downhill crash (which took out my shoulder real good, had me off the bike for a couple of months). It was so bad, I actually ran off the road a few times because I just couldn't make my body lean into the turns. Took me about 6 months before I dared to descend at speed again. Luckily, the mental block did not recur after my subsequent two crashes (you'd think I'd learn).

I was intending 3 hrs at around 300° but a bunch of a-holes kept turning the broiler on.

I'm beginning to really hate group rides at this time of the year.
