Training Status??? (II)
Making a kilometer blurry
I've seen this sentiment frequently, and I guess I'm lucky to look forward to my power for each ride. For me, it's informative as well as motivating, and I can take the truth, even when it's bad news.
Yeah, the incision sites weren't bad (laproscopic -- even though the surgeon had to pump 2.5 gallons of saline through me to clean out all the crap).
I agree on the listen to the Dr. thing. It was a pretty logical progression for me though, but it caused me to lower my expectation for the kind of pain that sends me to the hospital. To me, it felt like I had food poisoning, and the rupture itself felt like a really really bad abdominal cramp from dehydration and heaving. After that, I felt a fair bit better, but didn't improve any more the next day. So, the following morning, I got my bearings and realized I still felt no better, and decided it was time to head to the Dr. By the time I got under the knife, it had been 48 hours since the rupture.
The working theory is that I had appendicitis in the past, and assumed it was food poisoning all along. I would get food poisoning once or twice a year, and not understand why I was the only one in my group who got it. It would pass with no issues. This time the appendix ruptured.

haha i love power. Part of my goal (or my means of achieving other goals really) for 2013 is to re-define my whole mean max curve so when I look @ "all dates" versus" this season", it's the same line-- at least for a pretty big range of durations.

I'm ditching power. I do like it but in changing frames I'm not prepared to spend the money to upgrade plus I am not disciplined enough to use it properly though I do like seeing some of the numbers...

2 hrs at a nice high "drum and bass" tempo this morning. fixed gear; 42/15t.
Feelin' pretty strong up those inclines, was going faster than im used to compared to the latter half of the summer. It's my third ride into a new block after having completed one 3-week base block and resting last week. Good sensations.

Making a kilometer blurry
Had a nice SST ride today. Went out pretty hard into a headwind, ended up at my house to let the dog out for a bit, then rode back to the office.
I'm discovering that this first week of my first threshold block is not easy. The power is there, but it hurts.

My powertap needs new batteries (didn't ride with power for most of summer). With that said, the new batteries have arrived and I'm looking forward to seeing some power numbers again.

'bout an hour twenty Z2-ish through the park today (road bike is still in the shop, too lazy to put the HRM on the cross bike, so I'm going on RPE for now). Followed by lug wrench intervals - I rotated my tires this evening. A new experience for me! Hard work.

Do you ever do any kettlebell stuff? That's what I'm doing for my strength work. It's totally kicking my ass. After about 1:20 of strength work I grabbed a quick lunch then road for about 1:20 in z1. I started to feel a little better towards the end of the ride, but I'm still pretty zapped.

Keep at it...practice makes perfect!
I did a 60min roler ride tonite, since I could not get out of work before it got dark. Watched "Hell on Wheels". Kloden, nonchalantly getting needles stuck on his behind...WOW! I will watch the rest of it tonite.

Crappy day of climbing yesterday...need to go find the Training Failure thread. I thought the legs were going to be good but I got popped after less than 10 minutes at ~95% FTP.

Yesterday I did swings, snatches, presses and a couple varieties of squats (along with some non-KB stuff). The first two especially work everything. Legs, core, grip strength, arms, etc. I was doing 1 minute intervals. At the end of an interval I would have trouble standing.
