Starting at sea level though, so no elevation acclimation for me.
Sigh.....I used to live out there...Palo Alto down to Sunnyvale...loved those climbs. Kings, Tunitas, OLH, Page Mill, Alpine, HWY 9...

Do have a race this weekend that has a climb like that....unfortunately my legs aren't the same as they were 15 years ago.

Yes. I am so thankful for the riding around here.

Today's training was 30 miles of Zone 2 in the gawd awful inferno out there. Air temps at the airport were only 93 F, but it has been sunny all day the the roads were all screamin' hot. At least it wasn't as humid as it has been. The dewpoint is in the low 70's F instead of near 80 F.
It's supposed to storm here tomorrow afternoon, so if I want to ride I'll have to miss the tour in the morning. Also might have both of my parents home, which will make going for a ride in the morning an adventure.

Easiest, not easy. I'd have been dropped at the pace you held, but you couldn't have held that pace up the other climbs. 700ft vs 1200-2300ft is all I'm saying.

That doesn't make it easier, just shorter. The shorter the climb, the harder people go up it...

I think we are in semanticland. I concede that 100% effort is not "easy". I still contend that 100% effort for 9 minutes is easier than 100% for 20 minutes.

I should not have said easy. I should have said short.

3x5km TT efforts with 5min recoveries. Interval 1/297ap/297np. Interval 2/279ap/281np. Interval 3/284ap/285np. It started raining at the end of the first interval so I'm blaming that not my legs for the fall off in next two intervals. Legs are coming around and I'm getting more and more comfortable on the new TT rig.

3x15 @ ~105% fail. I was a little low (due to very steep grades) on the second one and I cracked completely about 5 minutes into the last one. Felt like I hadn't eaten enough. Doh.

I usually wake up and snack in the middle of the night but didn't really eat much last evening or snack at all, and didn't have time for any kind of breakfast (don't usually eat it anyway due to aforementioned snacking...)

basically i originally planned evans as an A race, but upon realizing i like RRs better than HCs i jiggered my plan around to peak for the state champ RR 3 weeks after evans, so i'm not really tapering for evans beyond just taking today off and doing easy openers tomorrow.

despite this i really like riding and racing evans and wanna do well, just not at the expense of being in good condition for the RR. which meant training through. so i'm just hoping for the best.

I think so after seeing the stuff back and forth on self-tests in the power thread.. Others tried to point it out months back.

I took yesterday off and I felt fine off the bike today, so I wanted to see how I would feel on the bike. I cut the ride short because I didn't feel good. Tomorrow will be a super easy 45' spin.
