something has clicked. i'm all of a sudden on. i had my best legs of the season on sunday and yesterdays workout entered best ever territory by both the wattmeter and the way i felt.
the Ws vs. how i felt were so good i stopped mid ride to check calibration and kept zeroing.
unfortunately, family obligations and the racing calender are conspiring against me. i guess i'll be the king of labor day group rides.
damn, these are the legs i was supposed to have mid july, not late august. i need to back off sooner next year.

Since yesterday's race turned into a long recovery ride, and it was gross out when I woke up, 90 minutes on the rollers before work today. Mostly endurance pace, with 20 minutes of tempo.

Had trouble getting my heart rate up this morning, finally got warmed up and focused on pegging my HR at LT. Didn't feel super, but not horrible either.

Last night got in a quick hill-repeat workout for 30 mins on a local 20%er:
AP:147
NP:295
VI: 2.0
It hurt. Hurt good.

2 hour group ride that usually turns bitterly competitive. Lots of attacking. IMO, it's actually harder than the Tuesday night criterium at times.
I took it a bit easier this week. I haven't been riding much, and my calves felt on the verge of cramping so I couldn't really give it the Welly at the crest of any of the hills. Did pretty well, the group shunk a bit

First time I have felt really good on the bike since the accident. 2:15 before work, with 2 sets of pyramids: 30" - 1' - 1.5' - 2' - 2.5' - 3', then back down again. 1 minute rest between intervals.
Killed myself on the intervals, then met up with my coach for a little spin, and the weather was gorgeous.

I am also starting again with the L4 intervals. Race season is pretty much over anyway and I am not really mentally able to handle racing often right now.
I thought my threshold would improve more this year and it has not.

Seems like you did a lot of training, I'm wondering how much rest was involved as well. (My guess is you didn't rest enough to let the training really kick in, if that makes sene)

thats a good question. Theres a small chance I'll do another race or two before im done for the year...ive got a few marked but dont know if i can do them or not (most races are over 2 hrs away, and require time off work).
Regardless, ive got time to build for a bit before another break...

DUDE.. Our race calendar runs until October 30th. We shut down in June and start up again, err, this Saturday!
This weekend, next weekend, September 18th, September 25th, October 2, October 9th, October 16th, and October 30th all have road races and crits on it.
Personally, I'm in for September, then I'm going on vacation.

(I suspect this weekend's course isn't going to be that great, Miami may be a good weekend for you just for proximity, and they tell me Brooksville's got some fun racing, huh just checked and Miami's now been moved off the calendar).

Come do San Ann. It's one of the best road race courses in Florida and has a nice little finishing climb. And it's a 3 day weekend!

Feels good to be back on the road. Still focused on stretching out my sprint. A little bit sloppy in form after 3 days inside: 60', 167ap, finished with 21" at 880ap.

I did almost no training. I did a ****load of racing. probably too much. I am going back to training now.
Today was an eye-opener though. a 300TSS day with a lot of L4 in it. I can already feel that it is quite a different kind of stress than racing (notwithstanding TTs). Perhaps I can make some improvements now.
as far as resting goes, yeah I rest a lot. I'm a lazy slug when not on the bike.
