Being a diesel is better than going off the front and dying 10 seconds later (what I tend to do). That's just embarrassing.

On a different note my training status is: sweating like a pig.
It is chemically induced, however. I came home with a low blood sugar induced headache from too little lunch and getting an hour of saddle time in instead with 45 minutes of SST. The first thing I saw when I walked in the back door was an open bag of corn chips. I then made a bowl with one cup of medium Pace Picante (medium = lame!, actually their hot is also lame, but I live in the land of bland tastes) and spiced it up with a table spoon of some datil pepper/pineapple "high octane". YUMMY!

I have a friend who's a diesel engine. If I'm not at the top of my form, I can barely keep up in his draft...
Huge kid, and he loves to climb. He won't stop talking about how much fun GMSR was. I wish I could have done it. He can climb about as well as I can. His w/kg is great. Except that he weighs like 180, so his power on the flats is crazy. I wish I could see his numbers. Maybe I'll pay for him to take an LT test.

dude. nothing wrong with being a diesel. especially if you can get off the front when it is flat (last 10-15 of a crit, etc.).

In the grand scheme of things the number is immaterial. Don't be motivated by the number. Instead embrace the pain and make that your friend.

I think I had low blood sugar as well. I didn't get much sleep lately, but I felt fine 20 mins before then. I was starting to get hungry right before that happened and I ate yogurt. Didn't really do much...
Had a good sandwich, chicken stew, cappuccino, a smore, and some more chocolate for dinner. Feel much better now!

After 7-8 days of not being able to ride hard (slight tightness in thigh), missing too many days on the bike and little sleep (traveling a bit for my research), finally had a good nights rest and pushed it a bit for 66' with np of 236

Yeah, I don't really mind. If I can get good, I don't really care what type of rider I end up. I'm just upset I can't really lose weight right now, because I feel like I need to be lighter to do well in races at the lower levels, until I get strong enough to hang at my higher weight.
If that makes any sense.

If you were counting calories, you would lose weight.
If you're actually trying to lose weight, do it right and stick to the plan.
That being said, if you're trying to train hard, then losing weight at the same time might not be the best idea. So pick one. Either ride hard and stay at the same weight, or start doing base-ish rides and counting calories.

Making a kilometer blurry
Good week of SST. Six days of 45-60 minutes @ 305-325W NP. Not too tough, but not too easy.

Man, I miss my commutes
At least fitness seems to be improving. My SST-ing 10W over where I was two weeks ago, with the same RPE.

I love moments like that.
I did a 20 min interval today at almost 10 W higher than I did in the spring.
I blame cross
*Dude, this doesn't hurt. Stop thinking of stopping. Cross hurts, this will be over soon enough. Heck it's shorter than a cross race.*

CX race in about 2.5 hours. wet, muddy.... perfect weather to crush some smart kids.
then a bunch of beers this afternoon!
next week brings some higher volume and with it a nice bit of weight loss, barring my typical eating patterns.
Psyched to see how the tabata work has payed off next week, as I try and punch the LT up a bit through Oct.
No stress, no stems.

My bikes have cobwebs hanging from the top tubes. 14 weeks since the end of days and entering the 9th week of no weight bearing status on the right knee/leg.
On the other hand, I think I'm ready for the World Ultimate Eating championships. I can also change channels faster than my daughter can text message, so I got that going on for me.

Making a kilometer blurry
Then I realized that Greg Lemond's quote really is true: "It doesn't get any easier, you just get faster." In the same sense, I'll be able replicate the suffering, but with more and more fitness. Once I got that faith in my training, I just started being able to get through tests like they were in a lab. It's going to hurt the same, and I'm not concerned with that: I just want to see what that suffering enables.

Are you actively trying to lose weight?
If you were counting calories, you would lose weight.
If you're actually trying to lose weight, do it right and stick to the plan.

Went out for an easy spin this morning. Mainly because I'm racing tomorrow. But when I got out there I felt just horrible. The worst I've felt on the bike in a long, long time. At the point when I wanted to just put the bike down I was already 1.5hrs from home - straightway. My stomach started cramping, my legs were aching, my body wasn't responding to anything.
Got home and got in the shower and turned it hot, hot, hot.
I have been off the bike for 2 days but have been working on a ton of stuff for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. I haven't slept well, going to bed late, getting up early, putting together videos and setting up the banquet hall. I'm a mess.
Tomorrow should be exciting.

Glouster CX race. cat 4. Raining and 55 degrees.
Raced smart and hard.
Lap 1 was at 303AP, then about 290 AP for laps 2-4. 20% of the race I was above 470w, AP which seems tough...
Nicely paced though, close to vomit-threshold every lap.
My new Michelin Mud rocked, so I cornered better than usual.
Snagged 4th place. Pleased for my second real cross race.
The Tabatas have really, really paid dividends I feel, mentally if not anything else.
Beer time starts soon, after massage/shower/stretch.
