10 days till the state RR, but I've only averaged 6 hours a week on the bike over the last month or so, with very little endurance work. Going to blow it out this weekend to test the legs, I hope they have one race left in them from the prior months work.

Well I do have about 3 that I cycle through. However one of them is so messed up with construction right now that I only have two in rotation right now. It's dark for my entire ride in the morning now so the scenery doesn't really matter. Plus I'm staying with my well reconnoitered routes when the visibility is limited. On Saturdays I do longer rides and have several routes that I frequent and sometimes just go and explore a little. When it's lighter out again in the morning (say like next May) I'll get more variety back in my morning routes as well. That ok by you?

I've lost 3 lbs over the last 3 weeks. Exactly what I was aiming for. At 169 now with 14 lbs to go to my goal. I'm trying to lose about 1 lb a week, though that may be A LOT harder as I approach that perfect 22 BMI .

However, I went in without knee pain and I'm pretty sure lowering the saddle is what caused that. He gave me 2 shims to put in, and I gave everything a few weeks. Knee pain gradually got worse. I took the shims out, and the immediate pain was gone.

The lower saddle height had felt weird for a bit, and culminated with a nice bit of pain. I put on 200 mile weeks this summer and had knee pain. Raised the saddle 2.5-5mm and it didn't flare up again until it went down about 5-7mm during the fit. So it goes...
Get the footbeds as soon as you possibly can. The difference that they make is astonishing. My crappy OTC footbeds really made a big difference. Not quite enough of one, though, so the next step is Specialized BG, FTW. I need shoes...

1 pound a week is good so as not to lose a lot of muscle - and power. Keep it up.

Thanks. Same to you.

But even more exciting than hitting that pefect 22 BMI number is fitting back into my size 4 dresses again

I have heat molded footbeds right now.

I should have said custom orthotics, i.e. something that costs in the realm of 500 or so bucks from a podiatrist...

3 hour MTB ride. Pretty awesome. Rode trails I hadn't ridden before, very smooth and very technical.

Does not compute.

You mean there were separate smooth and tech parts?

Yeah, sorry.

Starts out pretty tech, and then rolly and smooth in the middle, and then pretty tech at the end. Lots of logs, skinnys, gully/berm sections with drops that are awesome, lots of technical uphills.

A few creek crossings too, those are fun.

Status: stupid.

trained this morning. Will I pay for it? time will tell. But I feel OK now.

Did my best 6 rep Tabata yet, and earned a new CP3' of 514.

I ran the air pressure in my CX tires a bit lower this morning and that gave me just a bit more resistance, which I needed to squeeze out some extra guats.

After that, I wanted no more tabatatime, so I attempted a single WRI. that hurt.

A stupid training session. I really should have taken it easy. Bad boy, bad.

Cross race in 2 hours. Will start on time, and will finish better this week. I'm going for the hole shot, and then going all out till I throw up and then going all out some more!

Tomorrow: Yoga.

Friday: Cross bike on an MTB ride. Going to swap out the cassette for an 11-32. (12-26 for cross).
Since I'll be at a conference all day on saturday, I'm going to go out and do a road ride for 2-3 hours after the cross ride to fine tune saddle height and cleat position. Eff this knee pain.

We shall see. I've still got upper body left over from last winter, and I've not done even a stomach crunch since march.

I shall wait til december to start base, as it is what works out best for when I schedule finding form in the spring. Though my feet are not happy, my mind knows it is for the best. And if my feet fall off, I can have cleats surgically grafted to my stumps.

I'm going to do a bit to add some upper body muscle for the sprints. I doubt I'll ever win a hill climb race, but I have a good shot at winning in the 4's and possibly the 3's if I can raise my threshold a bunch. The sprint is on fire as of late, and for next season I want to aim for a 1400+W 5 sec.

My 5 sec went up about 150W this season, and threshold went up about 30W.

260watts on the way home. I felt sprightly. It took me about 2hrs. The weather was beautiful and I'm so glad I picked today to do a full commute.

very cool

3:32 in the mountains today. 2 50 minute climbs. Rocked out at ~300w for the second one. Da legs are BACK! Just in time for the end of the season

Goals for next season: 325w FTP (~5.1w/kg) (up 15w from this year's peak which was cut short by injury) and 1475w 5s (23.4 w/kg), only 40w higher than this year's max.
