Didn't ride yesterday.
Decided to go House shopping and swap cables/housing on my Giant instead.
Feel great today, ready to put in some good *gasp* roller time tonight... *sigh*

Throw the stick!!!!
I thought my legs were sore, just walked up a couple of flights of stairs and confirmed it.

In all seriousness as part of post workout nutrition my wife has recommended 1 tablespoon of flaxseed (ground not liquid) mixed with a shake. I have started to do it and it helps for sure.

Biceps/Triceps/Core work at lunch - arms feel like they weigh 100 pounds each.
I get off the elevator and a co-worker (known him for several years) says to me:
"Workout much?" - him
"Periodically" - me
"Your arms are nasty looking" - him
"Thanks for the compliment and f@ck you" - me
"Have a great afternoon" - him
"You too" - me
As you can see my dry sense of sarcastic humor takes place not only here but at work as well

I must be doing something right. Yesterday, I accidentally set a PR for 20 minute power during the first 20 minutes of my ride. I had to make sure I was coasting at 0 watts as a reality check. As a side note, I can't remember ever doing even a vaguely serious ride outdoors in January before. (or seeing a field of green grass for that matter either)

I hear ya...
8hrs this weekend outdoors and my legs are letting me know it...
Rest day today and tomorrow...Coach has basically told me to sit my ass on the couch and do squat...Not sure what the wife will think of that when supper time rolls around
Sciatica has finally settled down. I can actually sit and stand like a normal human being...

Slept like crap last night with the usual symptoms of "over training" (elevated heart rate, feeling on edge). Time for a (scheduled) rest/easy day.
I was able to carve out about 1 hour today, so that worked out. The problem is that I'm not sure if I can get out at all tomorrow. So, I split the difference: 45 minutes in the little ring, but 15 minutes of that in Z2 but spinning at 110+ rpm. My form broke down hitting a really rough patch of pavement at the end. It was like floating on the pedals and all of the sudden the bike was wrenched every which way below me.

The coach called for alternating 53*12 and 53*13, I do alternating 11, 12, and 13. Goal is to be able to do all in 11, but right now if I tried that my legs would fall off before 10 repeats.
Note that me stomping in my 53*13 is as hard for me as you or Derek smashing a 55*6. Leg strength is a huge limiter for me, so this is a tough workout.

I really don't have a sprint...I tend to get to lead out speed and max out there. It sucks, but I can hold this speed for a little bit which allows me to pass some of the sprinters who blow up or give up early and cheaply steal a few spaces in the last 50m.

Work on being sneaky and getting away with 500m or more to go. If the sprinters are looking at each other you might get a good gap before they know what hit them. Then they will wait for the other guy to lead them out. By that time you could be long gone.

Today: Rest; conducting offsite training with requisite eating of cookies, M&Ms, and various snacks.
Tomorrow: 1 hour easy spinning on hotel gym bike; conducting offsite training; ditto on the diet.
Wednesday: Back to training

5' test today on my "favorite" hill. Previous record was 365W, got 353W today. Th effort was horrendously paced as i went out way too hard, expect my 5' power to be at least 375W. Good thing is that i did manage to set an all time 6' record after i realized that i won't be able to do a good 5' power and instead went for a strava ewang contest
Don't think i did this one correctly as my HR managed to top only 181, and i had a sprint left in the end. Past records were set when my HR shot to 191 and i could barely sprint out of the saddle. Oh well, live & learn, though i doubt i could have squeezed out another 10W...
The good thing is that my FTP is finally comparable to my 5' power (same row) as opposed to being 7 rungs beneath it. Looks like it's time to pull up my FTP as opposed to push it. Thankfully, racing is another 8 weeks away, and the priority races are another 12 weeks away. Plenty of time to work on my 5' ewang.

I think i'd rather do a tempo ride into work tomorrow instead of the T/Th morning hammer fest, despite racing this weekend. I've done 4 or 5 hammer rides within the last two weeks just to see if my high end is sharp enough.
I'm comfortable enough with my current fitness to enjoy a more base-oriented ride at whatever z3/4 HR feels good.
Thursday morning I will def. do the hammer ride, however.
