Dude,
You are getting sucked into the death spiral of Strava. It is virtual MUP racing. Don't do it!!!! If you must Strava, you must not give a $h1t. Otherwise you will end up doing your training rides for Strava kudos instead of doing your training rides to make yourself stronger.
I can't believe that a nobody like me has to tell you this.

Na I thank your input, I have only ever gone for one segment ( I was taunted). What is so funny is I tend to, much like on here, post something then take it off (though I do keep everything in Garmin Connect) and while on different group rides I am asked does anyone know who **&&^^ is? I just start to laugh as there are only about 5 people who do. There are so many guys that take it seriously around here, I was told that one guy rode the same climb on Sunday 6 times until he beat my buddy, hysterical.

I'm just getting into Strava and it's kind of fun. If people want to wrongly think that the only reason I went all-out on a hill was for a "cup" that's their problem. Nothing has changed about my training, I've been doing intervals on those hills for years, the only difference is that now the interval is on a website.
On occasion your plan should involve going really fast, recording those efforts doesn't hurt anything. If some app increases your motivation to put out a quality effort that is a good thing. Heck, the field of sport psychology was pretty much started based on the observation that people, in general, train harder when observed by a coach or riding partners.
Is doing 6 all-out efforts really stupid? Sure his motivators are a little weird but he will probably improve faster than the guy who cuts a zone 2 ride short to go home and make dinner.

Hill repeats again...Decided to spice it up by alternating between 1min at tempo for the climb and 1min hard...Did 4 climbs and then ran into one of the local under 23 Team Ontario ladies heading out of town on the climb...Had to take it easy on that one so we could chat
Finished up with number 5 at basically the pace of number 2..
The climbing legs are coming

I've had a similar daydream. I'd add a BMX and CX course to bring the various tribes together.

Just under 4 hours of wheels-turning time -- Rode to a Tuesday-nighter a few towns away (about 80-85 minutes), arrived as wheels were rolling off, got dropped from lead group on the longish climb (in Rhode Island), (didn't know course too well) got lost (which included going down a long descent and then climbing back out when I sensed I was not going in the right direction), asked for directions (it's true), made it back to finish, rode home, lost some steam, got a second wind of sorts, hammered the last 10-15 minutes (not sure why nor what I was thinking), sprinted as hard as I could in the last 20" (565ap, which is not too shabby given that I was toast).

Standing start intervals today. Cracked 1200w for the first time in a non-race situation. Hot day and short, intense workout felt right.

1.5 hours this AM with three team mates. It was refreshing to ride early and not in the middle of the afternoon.

I find it interesting that you hit higher power in race situations. I hit much higher numbers in training (at least for peak), and my best power numbers came at the end of very long rides (4-5 hours). I can't sprint as effectively at the end of a race due to the efforts required to be in good position in the last few laps.

1.5 hrs last night. Just chillin. Goal today is to get my power tap together and do a baseline power test for this winter's training. I dont think my power numbers can be any lower than they are right now.
