watching the Nina Simone biography on Netflix, and was rewatching some BBC Sherlock. This song is common to both of these shows

Two weeks ago my wife dragged me off to LA to see 3lau and Zedd. Don't listen to much EDM but it was a pretty good show, I've seen Tiesto and Calvin Harris (at a club) and liked this better. We were probably the only people there over 30, which was cool cus in the concert 3lau said he wanted to put on a good show because his parents were in attendance, and everyone in our section thanked us and wanted to meet 3lau.

I like a lot of Zedd songs. This one gets me fired up pretty good:

not directly so often, although he is a big influence in the development of Bossa Nova. I hear him in some of his collaborations with American jazzmen, and through some of the compositions he has written, like Manha de Carnava, one of the first jazz charts I learned to read.

also, that song (Sevilla) was sampled from Gotye in his track "Somebody that I used to know", which of course reached astronomical success.

Now you got me lookin' @echappist.

This is another great version of a Bonfa classic. My father likes to play this one, and frequently requests that we play it together when I visit. My dad plays guitar and bass FYI.

yeah, you caught me on the origin of the "accidental" discovery.

@TMonk, our newest benevolent overlord, peace be with him

while looking for some old Bonfa tunes, mainly Manhã de Carnaval (known to cultural philistines as Day in the Life of a Fool), I came upon this by Stan Getz. I'd say it's quite appropriate given your username

Sure is .

Thanks for posting - that was special, a great take. Round Midnight is one of my favorite tunes, and remains my mother's favorite Thelonius Monk tune.

On a separate note, I've been digging this (lesser known) Monk standard for a while: Lulu's back in town. I think it's actually a stride-piano tune (Fats Waller?). Anyway:

The melody is simple and fun. I've been trying find a nice B-flat version for my tenorman, without much success. We did find a program that can transpose a song to any key from a scanned or otherwise uploaded .pdf file, which is cool. I may have to use it to generate this chart.

I'm a big fan of Seasons in the Abyss myself. Listened to it non-stop for a while in HS.

nice, that's a classic at this point.

this came up on the recommended video queue after I played your video. It's another that I enjoy, albeit much more recent:

All this EDM talk and I'm listening to old TATW recordings.

Seriously check them out if you need workout playlists. They're great.

found some pretty chill "progressive house" (I'm no expert) mixes that are good for working, studying, doing chores around the pad: "Taking you higher"

Part 2 is my favorite, I think:
