No idea. I still have my decapitated Bianchi hanging in my garage rafters. I got the idea of chopping off the back end to make a DIY wheelbuilding stand, but never figured out how I'd mount it.

Riding alone again tomorrow. My choice. But at least this way I can pick a hard route and do some climbing.

Yeh - my DIY skills are barely more advanced than my artistic ones.

I think that's how you get the best training anyway - enjoy.

I'm the least artistic person on the planet.
Despite all the above, I can't bring myself to throw them in the trash.

Ideas?
Ideas:
- They must fit you. One could become a trainer-only bike. You could even do something weird like a fixed gear flywheel rear wheel etc.
- Cut into many small pieces, about 2-3 inches long. File edges smooth. Drill hole near end, about 1/16", maybe 1/16" from edge. Clearcoat or something, your choice. Keychain thing. Bonus if the piece has a logo on it or it's a "weird" piece (dropout, brake bridge, chainstay end, etc).
- Find your various flash drives. Use one of said pieces to make a case.
- Give to artist who has ideas of grandeur and smokes and drinks a lot.
- Donate unused pieces that hold components (bottle boss area, BB area, top of seatpost) to local LBS for display purposes.

If it's a bendable material and you can put a seat post in it (preferably a steel one that uses one of those BMX type heads), spread the rear out to about a foot. Use a steel post (you can epoxy it in place if it's a bit small). Mount an exercise bike saddle. Based on how the chainstay is not horizontal on a bike but will be for your brand new stool, the saddle will have to point down significantly. Using a BMX type clamp helps in this area.

Bonus if you can find yourself an old steel tractor seat. Or some other more-comfy-than-a-bike-saddle-seat.

btw this is when you learn just how much weight you put on the bars and pedals.

Lost my roof to the sheathing from wind and most of my ceilings collapsed due water getting in afterwards but we never flooded. Much of my neighborhood had standing water but very few people had water actually come into the house and nothing like what's going on up north.

2 hurricanes in a month sucked. A generator helped alot but it still sucked.

I hope never to use the actual flood rider but I'm 1/2 mile from the Intracoastal so sooner or later......

I usually agree (my best efforts are almost always solo). However, I'm gonna get my butt handed to me tomorrow...I plan on setting some records in the process.

+1, for the most part. Group rides are kind of a fine hone, and racing a polish.

Rebuilt the bike today. I did a wet/dirty ride on Monday, and it needed it anyway. That was just the push I needed.

New brake pads, chain, cables, housings & tape. Took everything apart and cleaned it. Even trued that little wobble out of the rear rim I've been ignoring. It's quieter and shifts nicer. On the ride I took today it was worth at least 10 psycho-watts. I should have done that a couple months ago.

------------------------------------------------------------

What's the inside poop on Jeanie Longo? All I know is she's won everything for the last 30 years. Is it assumed she's a doper? I read somewhere that the French don't really care for her even though she's been hugely successful. I don't follow women's racing enough to be conversant on the matter. Anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

I know a lot of people say the only way to get into race shape is to race or ride in groups, but I find I often go harder on my own. It's tough to find a group that will consistently hammer at a level that works for me. Either I'm too strong or too weak. When I'm in a group I end up with a lot of tempo time, even if that wasn't my initial goal.

FWIW, most of the Nats caliber guys don't show up at the local slam fest, other than specific times of the year. There are exceptions, but that's more the rule.

What drives the ability to beg off the local measuring contests are goals, be it the local crit series or Nationals. It's gotta fit into the program if you're focused...and then you ride it to get the most benefit.

Last night the wife and I went to support our cheerleading daughter at one of the school's home games. They came back from a 21 point deficit to win 40-39. It was a great game.

But we got to sit and talk to this guy and his family. My daughter is good friends with the dad's grand-daughter.

Yeah, we were in the same boat. I don't know if you remember the track they took, but they crossed the state in Kissimmee, then came up to Cedar Key and went east over Gainesville.

Even being as far inland as we are, Francis caused a bunch of problems from high winds (lots of down trees, we lost power for 10 days). Jeanne was a different matter, it wasn't as strong, but it camped over us for 3 days and dumped tons of rain. Oh, and we lost power again for another week. My October electric bill reflected the no power for one half of the month of September situation though.

Going to try the courses feature on my Edge500 today, might come in helpful when we go to California...I've heard lots of bad things about the feature, but at least I won't get lost here....Since I know the route

I don't remember hearing her being accused of doping. She married her coach, moved to Grenoble, and lost weight and that's when she became a great climber.
One time at the Ore-Ida race she walked up and slapped a friend of mine after the stage. My friend didn't know why but thinks JL thought she was another rider who cut her off, or something.

JL was always second fiddle to Connie Carpenter, Rebecca Twigg. Okay, 3rd fiddle. The Italian one could climb, forget her name (sorry), she won all the "grand tours" per se by taking 15 minutes out of the rest on each climb. Marianne Martin (US rider) won the first Tour Feminin but after that it was the Italian one.

(Maria Canins, it was driving me crazy not remembering)

Then she suddenly got really skinny and really strong.

I thought her coach/husband was under suspicion himself but not sure.
