I have several pet-peeves. But this is one that I'm find really irritating as of late.
People who call me, "Boss Man," or "Boss." I was going into the market early and two workers were sitting outside smoking. Before I walked up to the door, one of them said, "Wrong door, Boss Man. They're locked. Use the other ones over there."

I guess I should add as a disclaimer that in my situation, it was a 5% raise for 50% more work and stress. A really bad deal. And it's a particular problem for all California state agencies, especially as the baby-boomer managers start retiring.

Big discount for team members. Reserve early and we throw in your choice of Taz or Ridley.

stole your bike
That's pretty common in a lot of companies, there's this assumption that more money makes stress and being overworked somehow ok. Where I work the mantra has been "do more with less".....ahuh, sure.

I like that idea. Personally I don't think anyone would notice another bald, 5'8", 140lb., 40 yr old in the peloton

Today I'm getting those short, brief twinges in my upper thighs that I often get when my legs are slightly jacked up.
You know, the kind that makes you constantly check your pocket because it feels like your phone is vibrating.

A counterpoint:
Keep your eyes open, WR. I was in a similar situation: topped out in my classification and I succumbed to management's flattery and agreed to interview for a supervisory position. I hated the job from day one and the best I could do was make it tolerable for a few years, but eventually I just had to make a choice between voluntarily demoting or leaving. I left.
All I'm saying is don't discount your enjoyment. If you love coding and you still feel challenged and are being reasonably compensated for it, give that its due weight.

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

Not knowing a thing about what you do, I will offer that the next big value step is being able to proactively identify ways to make the enterprise more efficient / more money, based on your knowledge of tech and the particulars of what makes the shop run. HTH. No charge.

I think I'll see where the numbers land. For the same kind of money, I'm happy doing what I'm doing. If it's enough more money to make it really interesting (like enough to make me change jobs), then I'll probably jump. A lot of people in this company get bored with their current title, and change it up every two years or so. It's pretty dynamic, and if you're good, you get a lot of freedom.

he's just saying that Joe Public (and possibly race officials) won't be able to differentiate between one fast bald old coot in team kit and another.

Home buying involves an impressive amount of paperwork. Today alone was 106 pages or something, 30 of them requiring signatures.
Also, I e-mailed GeomanGear today about the missing third battery from the recall that I didn't get. They replied (rather quickly) that they had missed it and would send it out tomorrow.
So if anyone gets a recall back, but missing one, it's not because it's coming later, they just forgot, so let them know.

That reminds me.
The Giordana velodrome in Rock Hill (south of me by 30 minutes or so) is gonna be done spring of next year. I'm excited. I've never ridden on a track. If I get as fat as possible, and then grow huge guads, I'm pretty sure I'll win everything.

Yeah, and Jacky-boy's results are %(%^^*&%*#@!!!!!!!!!!!
Breaking Boardman's record is/was the most under appreciated event of the last few years.
Actually...nah. Funny thing is as I get older even though I lose a bit here and there I pretty much never want to go back. I think, like wine, age improves me. Until I go all vinegar and yell at kids to get off my lawn. Went to the SF aquarium with my 5 y/o niece last weekend...really enjoyed it. Couldn't of done that a decade ago.
Besides, when I was 40 I was working 60 hour weeks, 2 years into "management", fat, contemplating blood pressure meds, and telling my temp boss that if he ever spoke to me like that again, I'd reach across his desk and pull his ********* out through his mouth.
Seriously. I told him that. I walked out thinking "well...time to look for a new job".
Never heard boo.
