All those guys are big guys, 165-175 lbs. or more, and at a totally different level. So it goes. It's not the bars. But color me "intrigued".

Yabroudy top-tenned at Exeter the next night. Foley was fourth.

It was a good week: hung in there at Keith Berger race, had Pepe's pizza, raced Exeter and hung out with shovel, increased power, met a former Miss Universe 4th runner-up, had a proposal approved for a 'Future of Marketing" intellectual/business/technology mashup/event (see https://futurem.org/About.aspx), and had an article come out in the current issue of Harvard Business Review.

I like the Cane Creeks. I have to work on using them for more than 30 seconds at a time, but I figure they're worth 1-2 mph on steady pulls. Kind of like putting big aero wheels on vs 32H box wheels.

The Scotts are good too, feel more narrow/faster, but they don't fit with the tire/finger thing.

I was highliting more the fact that these 2 guys were crushing souls 2 straight nights. But, yeah, the bars are cool and it sounds like they do matter.

Also, I wonder if Skip Foley being a former NFL player is urban legend. I've searched online to see for whom he played and I can't find any "Foley" that might be him. I might ask him next time I see him.

sunday options arent that great in these neck of the woods. well, unless i am setting up ride. i have plans to ride 100 sunday. one other teamate has committed so far. we plan to go super early as of now.

there is normally a ride out of LifeTime Fitness at 7am in Burr Ridge on sunday. 30 show up, but about 6 to 8 guys are fast and dart off on their own after a group warm up. it is off of County Line and I55 just south of the interstate. later.

I didn't bring my bike so no riding for me.

Any suggestions for a good bike shop in Chicago?

I ordered something from deal extreme a month ago and it still hasn't show. It shows it was shipped and is in the US and maybe that delivery was attempted? No idea why they didn't just leave it here...
I have to figure out how the eff to get it. I guess I'll have to start with the post office. Ugh.

Amusing sight on my training ride this morning: a guy wearing full kit + rollerblades drafting off a 2-man "paceline" consisting of a tri-guy (with aerobars) and a roadie-type in Liquigas kid.

Foley uses his speed bars (they're not Cane Creek) only when he pulls. Once his turn is over he gets back on the bars. I'm thinking I want to try these things, but they are hard as heck to find. If anyone sees a set for sale, please PM me. CDR, I'm not surprised that you can't stay on them for long. Your normal position is so aggressive, if you hit a pothole on the speed bars you'd probably flip over.

Foley used to sprint on the bars, seated. Something must have happened as it's been years since he's done that.

The Cane Creeks are good but there's no resting the upper body, and you can't weight the bars too much, else the bike gets unstable. The longer distance forward + the narrow distance apart seems to make for weird handling. For example I'd never use the bars on a long/fast descent. It's more stable to hold the tops next to the stem.

Back from California. I had a 1 am flight this morning and Ex was kind enough beat up on me some before my flight Friday night. He took me up Mt. Baldy (as far as we had time for). Quite a nasty climb. At least it made sleeping on the plane easier. Thanks again Ex!

Now my project for the weekend - watch some bike racing on TV and build this up.

prolly going out for a short 50 miler tomorrow with some hills.

Uncertain about my racing for the next month. I feel better but my equilibrium is still off a bit. Not as much though. Not at all.
But I want to be safe. And be safe to others around me.
