I also woke to the epiphany that I'd like to be ten pounds lighter and have veins on my knee caps. Possible? Useful?

I had the same epiphany, they don't serve much of a purpose though

Already went. We weren't sure what it was, and it seemed to be spreading a lot, plus on my face, so we went to a minute clinic. It is indeed poison ivy, and they gave me the topical steroid. Doesn't do jack for the itch, and hasn't seemed to do much to cure it, but it's only been 12 hours. Overnight we used one of those things that soothes the itch and dries it out and stuff, that helped a ton on the itch.

Sure would be nice if it did go away in a couple days.

The veins on the kneecaps are ugly and overrated. I'm still trying to loose the little jiggle around the belly, that crap is just being stubborn.

They gave me the topical steroid as well, and it didn't seem to help much. Nothing seemed to help much, except time, and more than a couple days of it.

My girlfriend and I both got it one of the first times we hung out. It took a few days before it showed up on her (and like a week before mine popped up), and she didn't know what it was at first, and kind of flipped out. She stopped calling me for a few days, because she was panicking and thought she had some weird disease or something. I thought she just didn't like me any more. Then a few days later she called and said "hey I have great news--I have poison ivy!"

We picked it up here (shocking, I know):

Last time I had it, I tried all the home remedies for several days before going to the doctor as it just kept getting worse and was spreading.

The doctor walked in the room, saw my legs, and then walked back out.

"You have poison ivy," he said, while standing just outside the examination room.

"Yeah, that's what it looks like. Don't you need to examine it more closely," I asked.

"No, I can tell from here. I'll have the nurse come and give you a cortisone shot," he said, never coming within 10 feet of me.

Nurse came in a few minutes later. Gave me a shot in my butt. Took about two days to really calm the massive itching and irritation, but it worked. Still, for about six months, you could see blotches on my legs where the poison ivy had been. Fortunately the scars faded.

Did he think it was contagious ? .... Only if you just touched the plant & have fresh oil on you then rub it on someone else.

Once you get used to watching out for it and know where it likes to grow, it's avoidable.
