Haven't tried the fudge but if you haven't had one already, do try the mini blueberry pies....good stuff. It's nice to have actual blueberries than the blue goop that often passes as blueberries in processed foods.

I forgot to mention .... our oldest daughter walked in on us last night.

The shock and horror on her face still makes me laugh.

Funnier than usual post in BSNYC today. Just don't read the comments, some jerkoff decided to be funny and post a spoiler. Hopefully I'll have forgotten it by the time I get home to watch it, but I doubt it.

The door doesn't lock well. Plus she just got home and kids don't knock. I bet she will now if she sees our door closed.

piercings are one thing, and over the years I've ended up taking all of mine out. I had quite a few of them, and they were very dear to me, but the time came and they went away one by one.

https://home.trainingpeaks.com/races/.../stage-12.aspx

You guy's have probably already seen this, but I thought it was pretty cool. His best 20 minutes from the stage was 394W (they said his threshold is a little over 388) My best 20 min of 345 just looks pathetic now. In my defense he does weigh 5 pounds more than me. Maybe if I just had some EPO at my disposal..

5# is 5# , and a SRM is going to be what, 1% or ? higher than a PowerTap.

So thats 375 watts for you. you could probably do that for 20 minutes if you trained enough. Just not in the middle of a tour de france stage.

375 watts is not possible for a lot of racers, regardless of training, even relatively "strong" Cat 3s. One of the more consistent racers I know can do about 280 watts for 20 min - he's about 5'10, maybe 6'. I haven't broken 268 watts ever and this year it's been around 235 or 240 watts.

Josh Horowitz has an interesting insight on potential here. What's interesting to me about it is that it took him so long to figure it out. I think he grew up in the "if you try hard enough you can do it" world, not the "if you can't do it then it means you can't" world like I did.

If it's only about training, anyone could race the Tour. Since it's really only about genetics (or doping), there's a very small population that can just qualify for the Tour.

Agree, CDR. Those are just about my numbers. I'm a midpack Cat 3. I don't get dropped on many rides and can mix it up with the big boys on flat rides, but I'm never going to be able to ride them off my wheel or accelerate up a climb.

I get dropped on pretty much all rides, including those that are "no-drop B rides" from a local shop (although if I ride smart then I can stay in the second group). One M45+ woman (that's a polite way of stating her age; she might be M50+) asked me if I was really trying when she rode by me on one of the rides.

My one team ride was horrible - got shelled countless times, they waited, sheltered me, then shelled me again. At least in races I only get dropped once.

I should correct my above post - I never broke 268w for 20 min. I've broken it for short periods of time

Heh. That makes me feel better. If you can't do it and you can still kick butt in the races, then it's all good.

How many years is it supposed to take for cyclists to reach their potential? I've been doing this for two years now, so hopefully I can still see some more than minor improvements. Hopefully.
