Warming up for 2nd race of the day
I'm guessing there is a thread around here talking about this, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, we all have our own ways of warming up for our races, but my question is, what do you do when you have 2 races in one day. Yesterday I raced my first race at noon (35 min), did a spin around the area to get the legs warm and the HR up. My second race was at 3:30 (40 min), so about 3 hours in between. For my second race, I did a quick spin around the area, about 15 minutes because although I had cooled down, I put in a lot in the earlier race to win a prime. I was really feeling my legs at the beginning of the race, but towards the end, I felt strong, but I attribute much of that to riding smarter out of the wind and staying on wheels out of the corners. In any case, I want to know what do you typically do for your second race of the day?

Usually my second race I feel bad at the beginning, then a bit better as the race goes on. It's kind of like when you stop on a long ride and then get going again. I'm usually tapped out at the end - I've almost never done well in my second race.
If there were 3 hours between races (most of mine were 15 min apart) then I'd eat something too. I'd be starving in 3 hours.

i always find myself doing very little warm up for that second one as i struggle to get the mind willing. normally, i do better the second time around though....
later.

I don't know that I've ever had two races three hours apart. I'd definitely eat and drink in between. Maybe even take a nap and stretch as well.
During our Tuesday night race series, which is on an oval car race track, I race back to back (4/5 first then 3/4). During the 10 minutes in between, I try to take a gel and drink - though this is often difficult due to the fact that I am also trying to recover from the final sprint. And as others have said, the first 10 minutes or so of the second race are pretty tough, but once I get settled, I tend to do all right.

easy spinning with a few min at LT/tempo just to keep the blood moving. No openers necessary, assuming you've already "raced" but I'll warm up just as long if not a little longer. I nearly always do better in my second race of the day.
...well, when I was able to race more often.

i always do the junior race (just to be cool and look like im actually a good bike racer) then i do the 4 or 4/3 or 3/4 (sometimes i do three races a day those hurt). Generally the races are maybe 10 minutes apart (most of the time they're even closer) so i just spin around swap my bottle(s) and take a gel or something, and then i pray to god that i don't get my ass handed to me.

What everyone else said. Then again - don't listen to me. I suck.
