I feel a bit guilty because there will be a couple new guys on the team, very strong, very savvy, as well as some strong guys upgrading to Cat 3. It's also a good team, i.e. a lot of the guys are there all the time, just in the past they were racing in different kits or in different categories.
So for 2012 we'll have huge numbers at some races, which will not help the "sandbagger" label at all. One guy in particular is a former Cat 2, former NE Crit Champ, been racing 20 years, and is a selfless racer if asked to be. I've wanted to race with him for years and we finally get to work together.

I thought of that too, but I'd much rather race with the boys... (counting the 3s - BJH, CA, JT, TJ, JM, DD, plus TB, CK, plus LJ who may upgrade shortly). Only a couple qualify for M40 even (one for M45) and most of them are Cat 3 level racers (I'd say the wildcards TB and CK could hold their own in a Cat 2 or M35 race).
As a 2 I had one teammate who rarely raced the 2s (he preferred M35). As a 3.... gobs and gobs of teammates. It's as much fun racing for teammates as it is when they race for you.

1. Avoid serious harm - be safe.
2. Be an unselfish teammate in M40-49 category.
3. Top 5 in State Championships for each RR discipline.
4. Not embarrass self as Masters National Championships (i.e., finish each race).

Goals:
- 2,100W
- 11.5" Flying 200M
- 1:12 Kilo
- 35" 500M
- Lose 10 more lbs (already -10 from Masters Nationals from this summer)
- Stop coaching others for free. Focus on myself. (I've been helping 2 friends/teammates a little too much over the past few months and it's distracting me from my own program. For example: Had a 2.5 hour motivational conversation to help one person tonight when I should have been riding my trainer. I have Catholic guilt about missing workouts.)
- Travel to race more at P12 events. The new Rock Hill, SC velodrome will be only 4 hours away
Any of the following would be a bonus:
- Over 2,150W
- Sub 11.5" 200M
- Sub 1:12" Kilo
- Losing 15+ more lbs (this is possible, but will require a very strict program)

physiological/training:
break 1100W for a 5" sprint (unlikely...); peaked at 1030W, ~7%
break 8.50w/kg for 60" (doable); peaked at 8.07w/kg, ~5%
break 5.80w/kg for 5' (doable); peaked at 5.29w/kg, ~10%
break 4.40w/kg for FTP (stretch, but doable); currently at 4.01w/kg, ~10%
get to 67.5kg by end of December, currently at 69.3kg, down from 71.5kg a few weeks ago; 66.5kg by early April
not taking big gaps in training and training smarter
racing:
enter more races
get in meaningful breaks and learn to attack shrewdly
better my skills at surfing wheels and cornering amongst skittish riders
learn to tail-gun like CDR and WR in order to avoid surges
upgrade to Cat 3
podium in a few Collegiate B races
most importantly, racing safe
bike related:
barring significant expenses such as the need to replace shifters, limit my bike spending to $400 from now until the end of 2012
work/life related:
get a better schedule, as my old schedule impacts training and recovery

And screw weight. If it goes down more, i'd be ecstatic, but i'm happy sitting at 69kg.

even though ewangs are effing useless, this one has been fait accomplis. Currently at 4.50w/kg. First race tomorrow, and it'll be a 52 mile road race in the rain. I think i'm ready.

Well, not completely, but it's just too damn counterproductive given all the stress from school and training. Just not worth it.
And not fully back, probably taking another banning on Sunday as i didn't get as much work (or rather, realized a few holes in what i proposed). The report is due on Wednesday, and i should have enough time to finish it by then.

My goals for 2012 are multiple top 10's and at least 1 podium (after zero results in my first year racing last year). I've already got a 4th and a 6th in the last month, so I'm hoping a podium is in the near future.

well done on your results thus far.
I'll be racing with a few 3's and mostly 4's in collegiate B's. My plan is to sit tight unless someone strong goes, and attack from 10-20 miles out if no one wants to do anything.

This is my first season racing, so my goals are quite modest:
At the end of the season, assess where I am and look into goals for 2013.
That, and give cross a try this fall.
- Don't die.
- Enter as many races as possible. Everything other than TTs.
- Finish with the pack as often as possible. As the season progresses, try and work those finishes up the pack.
- Ride as much as possible when not racing.

Reasonably Slow...
1. Complete my first year of training without injury or crashing
2. Find a local team who can teach me how to train and race
3. Get stronger
4. Enter a race
5. Finish a race

No grading system, few races and good riders who turn up for even the smallest races for training makes winning races in Norway tough. I guess I will be happy if I can manage to bag a few top 10's. I will be very happy if I can gather enough qualifying points to be able to race the National Cup and National Championships in 2013, but I think I won't be able to get those points this year, perhaps in 2013.

I got my podium (3rd) on Saturday, so I'm upgrading my 2012 goals to include a win on the year. Most of my remaining races for the year will be crits, so that's still a stretch goal for me. I'm much more suited for road races.
