i don't know any amateur cyclists who have individual sponsorships. my college team has a few; rudy project, park tool, defeet...we reached out to them. they sponsor a bunch of teams and were happy to help.
i know a few triathletes who have individual sponsorships, but again, haven't really seen it with cyclists.

Hah thanks. My lbs doesn't do any racing series'. Talked to them the other day about it. And have read that thread, found a lot of things quite useful. Couldn't find anything about sponsors so - /thread. But I'll look around the area, I'm sure some do.

OP, use the search function. I know there was a pretty good thread about this a year or two ago.
As a side note, If you haven't already won your first 3 or 5 Cat5 races (or whatever it is you need to upgrade) and then didn't already dominate Cat 4 and haven't already moved up to Cat 3 with a few podium finishes...I'd start there...
