Making a kilometer blurry
My 11-year-old told me similar yesterday. But then he said it's ok because I'm an old man. Then I whipped his ass in a 50 on grass.
...although he finally beat me for the first time in a 25yd free in the pool (he's down into the 13s now)

Whoah, I have raced. I didn't think they counted, just making sure. It was a little "counting my chickens in the same basket" though. I do need to read the rulebook more thoroughly.

I had a tough day on the bike today - sprintervals in the mid-day sun...
Then I looked across the road and saw Tyler F rolling by - realized he's having a worse day than me.

You know you think about racing too much when you see a car change lanes, then another follows and accelerates, then you instinctively follow cause you don't wanna miss the break. True story.

Nor should you.
The best part of the start to finish stages is the first hour. The neutral, the the hour or so of attacks, then you settle in, do some work, go to the supermarket, have some lunch. Get back to work, watch the race, lists tithe commentary... Oh, wait. That last part isn't worth it with marbles mouth and pursed lips.

Doggy found a good home through Facebook and the American Pit Bull Foundation. She has a big brother pit bull who is really sweet and she was good with him when they met. The parents are both really nice and loving dog owners. They'd fostered before, and were thinking of fostering her, but they fell in love and are going to keep her. Now back to regular life, finally. Although, only semi-regular life. Now on Wednesday my mother in law, sister in law, 1 year old nephew, and two dogs are coming down. The dogs are staying with us while the humans go to see a dying friend in Georgia. Then the humans are coming back for the weekend probably.
Hopefully I'll get to ride tomorrow, maybe Thursday, race Friday at the track. We'll see.

Canada has a whole day? It seems like 12 hours would be plenty.
Q: How many Canadians does it take to change a light bulb?
A: They finally got electricity? Sweet eh?
Seriously though, congrats to your wife. I'm surprised that she didn't get LaBatt's though

Good luck with it. Kind of sucks as we get older there aren't as many good fits that pay as well, then you have no idea how long of a search you're in for.
I'm getting into a tough spot myself, but much more positive. I like my current job a lot, but the company has been doing terrible for the last 3 years. Lots of layoffs and resignations. People telling me "leave now, while you have a choice" on their way out. Meanwhile, I get great project assignments, huge career growth opportunities, great pay, and a really short commute. New management actually making smart changes for the first time I've seen, and they might be able to turn it around. It's risky, but I've probably earned my severence, if it hits.
Now I have former employees and colleagues reaching out to bring me into their organizations, and I'm having a tough time with the balance. I think I have an offer coming, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do -- but I'm lucky to have such problems.
