Condolences. As WR said, I hope you get some time in with the family and on the bike.

I may need something. Considering a largish trailer so not sure how much sense it makes to leave it there vs driving it to my dad's or parking it a block or two away (which may be a possibility).

So if I was to look into learning to program code, where would I go? Pick up a book and go? Check out some online courses?
All of this talk about the kiddie programming has me intrigued and thinking maybe I should get into it when I'm bored. And I'm bored quite often now that I'm not training 10-20 hour weeks. I took a semester course in Java in College and didn't have many issues and felt like I could have kept going with it. But that was like 5 years ago now, and probably don't remember much.
My industry mostly codes in C# and python. If I could get to an apprentice level and start doing it in a professional environment, I could probably double my salary and not have any issues ever finding a job. So. Would be nice.
Discuss ye ole programming genius'.

Looks like I'm heading to Brevard NC for some early season riding in mid- March with a group of guys. Sounds like it's going to be fun and just what I need.

Honestly, starting off in Scratch is not a bad idea at all. I'm enjoying my little 30-minute spurts of Scratch programming. There are tons of Scratch tutorials, and they move right along.

That sounds awesome! Some great climbs there. It is on my short bucket list to hit up the carolinas for training probably next year.

I just use them on the trainer and early morning rides. Definitely not on group rides, but if a tree falls in a forest...

Isn't Python the one with the weird syntax, where everything needs to be indented? So weird! (less weird than LISP at least, I guess)
Anyway, Creatre, if your goal is to do it for work, then yeah focus on the languages used there. But really any language will do, it's all the same ideas with different syntax and different libraries.
Once you learn one, learning the next is way easier! Best of luck.

Not particularly, but it's important to be at the front on the turn-around and be at the front at the end (duh!). If you camp out at the back, then try to move up in the last 5 minutes, it isn't going to happen. The only way to do it is to stay at the front the entire time.
I'll take your advice and stay towards the front(easier said than done most of the time)

I have a few totes stuffed with old kits. I use them on the trainer or, in a pinch, as a base layer (typically in the winter, under a proper jacket/vest/jersey).

First, Sorry for your loss, Jandro. Just be there for your family. The rest of the stuff (like the bike) will always be there when you get back. It's good for a mind-clearer, though, which might be necessary.
I just looked at the course profile and it's different from when I last raced it. My guess is that you'll still be on narrow roads. I don't know that I'd call that a 'major' climb, but it does look like the road tilts up towards the end. Good Luck!
