But think of all of those quick gains you are going to be making in the next month, that will be pretty sweet. Plus you guys have races right now, so quit your whining

6 repeats on a 10 minute, 7% hill. On the single speed. 4800 ft total climbing in 32 miles. Average cadence 45. Ouch.

Near the top of repeat #5 , on a steep section, barely turning the pedals over, a car drove by and a girl leaned out the window and yelled "you can make it!" Wait, come back so I can explain how it's a single speed and I've done 5 repeats already!

One day Lance came over a hill the other direction and said the same freaking thing to me, in a similar workout, on a 17% bit, 6th repeat.

Like when I go out for a recovery ride but can't avoid hills. I'll be riding at like 5 mph and everyone passes me. I wonder what they are thinking.

500 KB swings
50 sandbag deadlifts

My grip is improving on the swings and I'm definitely getting stronger. This workout is no freakin' joke, though....damn. I'm getting calouses on top of my blisters. Now recover, eat, do some work and then get ready for a relatively chill ride.

I'm telling you guys because if I told my wife, I'd return from work to find my bikes sold on Craigslist for $200. If I told my co workers I'd have to deal with the two hour diatribe about how bikes shouldn't be on the road.
Yikes! yes, we understand...we shake our heads at the driver! I never talk about cycling to my coworkers any more. I crashed once, had stitches on my chin...for about 2 months, the Monday morning question was "Did you fall off your bike this weekend?". Now I don't mention cycling!

Early morning group ride was nice, had to sprint to catch up with my friend who was on a TT bike...I caught him and took a QOM at the same time. Also saw a beautiful sunrise, the entire sky was purple!

Re the workouts function on Garmin. Just make sure to give yourself a big enough margin on each side of your target wattage or it will spend the whole time beeping at you.

I've gotten passed by grandma's on the local MUP during recovery rides. I also have older guys race me on beach cruisers thinking they have a chance when I'm doing 100w. Hurts the epeen. Pays off in the races.

Funny...I passed a guy on a small hill last week when I was riding home from the group ride....he caught up to me at a light and quickly explained that he was on a recovery ride....basically letting me know that on any other day, there's no way he'd get chicked! I congratulated him on being disciplined enough to let me pass him! I think he went home with his head held high

I'm just working on overall strength, fitness and health. I know it's heresy to do a workout that isn't directly linked to cycling, but the lion's share of my life is not spent on a bicycle. Oddly enough, it does seem that strengthening the posterior chain seems to translate a bit to the bike.

Several months ago I found out my testosterone was in the toilet. One way of raising levels is lifting a bunch of heavy stuff. I've spent the last several months trying to do natural things to boost it. It'd be fun to just grab a needle, but there is a bit of a downside(racing) of going down that road.

I had a guy pass me on an Xtra-bike once. Serious epeen shrinkage.

I used to have T problems consistent in the 300s/400s (low for age), because of diet and training. Last couple of times I've checked its been in the 800s+. One of the major things (but not the only thing) I attribute to that is lifting 2-3 times a week, full body.

I got passed up a hill by a rollerblading guy last month. I think I mentioned it in this thread actually...
I challenge myself: Don't pass anyone riding a bike. It's tough.

I usually just do my recovery and pre-race rides on the trainer or with the GF. Either way no one judges me

This week has sucked ass.

Last week was supposed to be a rest week and it was. This week was supposed to be the first week of build, but crappy weather and too much employment (also known as "job") crap got in the way. Maybe tomorrow late afternoon I can get out to toast my legs. They are dying to be toasted.
