Much obliged, I'm definitely not feeling tip top for whatever reason, but I'm doing the taper thing today and tomorrow just to get into the habit of it.

I was happily surprised by the field sizes when registration closed last night!

The storm that hit NYC/NJ yesterday was a big meh up here, so there's no brand-new snow, at least.

I'm really jealous. I promised my kids I'd take them to Belleayre on Sunday or else I'd go do Plainville too.

I spotted a rock on the lift at Belleayre that I just had to jump. Wish the pic came out better.

5x(3'+3'). On the way back I was sort of zoning out and ran over a snake sunning itself on the road. Sorry, guy!

It's funny. When I was a 5, I couldn't wait to upgrade so I didn't have to race at zero dark thirty. Now that I have kids who have their own weekend activities, I wouldn't mind getting my stuff out of the way early.

ok, if you say so. It's barely going the break freezing tomorrow and it'll be down in the 20s for the earlier races

^I ordered that book. I need all the help I can get! Unfortunately, the company gives itself three weeks to get the book to the purchaser unless you pay for expedited shipping.

He also likes hammerfests/worlds rides for training. Friel (who is 70, it turns out) has some other excerpts on his blog.

Sorry for all the posts this morning... I'm jonesing for racing so machine *** posting here is like a poor substitute.

Anyway, an interesting thing cyclinganalytics.com shows is statistics across all users. Users are likely to be actively training, or else they wouldn't bother to use the service. The median ride is 1.5 hours, 78% IF, 95 TSS. So most people are doing relatively short, relatively intense workouts.

So to do well I have to enter a long, flat road race?

Doing pre race spin today. Feeling...weird? Yeah, weird is the word. My hamstrings are just generally sore, I presume from all the trainer time. I'm trying to gain a pound or two because I think trying to stay as light as possible is negatively impacting my recovery during high intensity stuff. Took yesterday off because I find recovery rides just about useless when done on the trainer.

I could wake up tomorrow feeling fresh or feeling like ass, I honestly have no idea. Either way racing is going to be fuuuuuuuuun!

It's not actually going to be above freezing today... I'm not celebrating forecasts until they manifest. But yeah, the forecast is downright balmy, which is to say only slightly colder than the historical average.
