No race today; I rode for a few min right after waking up to test the waters, and my foot is still a little tender. Stingrays hurt.

Spent the day downhill skiing with my kids. I have never actually downhill skied before, though I spend a lot of time on XC skis, and I spent a lot of time snowboarding about 20 years ago. It was a lot more fun than I expected -- XC skills make downhill skiing feel like, I don't know, riding a bike downhill after training going only uphill, or something. The kids had a total blast and we ran into about 30 people we knew which was fun. They are pestering me to get season passes next year.

Nothing quite like ~70 miles of crit racing to get the blood pumping. 1/2/3 & 3/4 crits + both their eliminators. Definitely brought my B game, but it turns out I can hold my own with my B game which is nice. Good speed work.

Day 2 on my comeback. Let loose a few times....of course 'letting loose'= 200+ watts.

I'm not hurt anymore, but my muscle is weak, and its important to be disciplined right now.

Kinda blew the end of my rest week this weekend... almost 3 hours yesterday and a little over 2 hours today... right around 250 tss.

Oh well... felt good to finally get outside and ride after spending all winter stuck inside on the trainer. Extended forecast, as unreliable as it is, is looking great for the week and a half... hoping to get out of work at what used to be my regular time a few days coming up and get out after work. Will be kind of nice to get some intervals in outside for a change.

A classic corvette ran over his foot.

Been out of the game for quite a while but this year hoping to do some good time trialling.

Last year I spent building base fitness, I have some targets, sub 22mins 10 mile and sub 1hr on my local rolling courses. Things are going well. Concentrating on sweet spot efforts and weight loss at the moment.
Today I'm between night shifts so just an easy hour. First race of the year on Sunday, a rolling 22 mile time trial with a cheeky sting in the tail - climb at the end. Glad I recce'd it or I'd've blown before the climb.

Not much to report honestly. I came into the day still feeling really off and somehow my B game wound up being fine in the 1/2/3s until I flatted with 2 laps to go, which was annoying because I was tucked into zipcar's train. I was surprised that I was able to be at the pointy end the whole time because I was feeling so weird that before the race I was wondering if I could avoid being dropped, so I'm taking it as a good indicator that feeling like ass I'm still able to operate at the front. My NP was only like 300W but I'll take it.

My top end was pretty flat in the 3/4s and I tried to get away a few times but lacked the punch to get a gap so wound up towing everyone along instead, and coming in to the finish I saw a dude overlap wheels and crash into a snowbank with 300m to go so I sat up and did not contest the sprint. First race day is too early for me to want to take risks, and even though it was relatively safe it seemed to me that dudes were riding like they'd been stuck on the trainer all winter and were relearning how to ride outdoors.

It was just a weird day, fun but weird. I was breathing thru my nose the whole time but my legs weren't responding how I'm used to them responding. I've got a rest week now so hopefully that gets things back to good working order.

Hey, you made both eliminations so there's that. It always lines out before the sprint and there's only one line so I'm not surprised that someone made it into the snowbank.

Track racing, but on the road. Sprints every 2 laps, last dude across the line gets taken out of the race until there's 3 guys left at which point they sprint for the win.

Let's call it somewhere between 3 and 3.5 races because the eliminator races are shorter than the others, but technically yes. After the 1/2/3s I was sort of treating it more as a workout than anything since I didn't feel tip top and my real goals don't start for a few weeks, so I was just really happy to get the speed work in and be riding in the bike games.

Made it to a recovery week after a pretty tough block. Ready for sleep and more sleep with a side of sauna time.

It's kinda like a bee sting, but with pain that is 10x or more, that lasts for hours.

Today my foot is still a little black/blue and tender. I was able to ride for 45min last night with my left shoe unbuckled.

Dang it. Had a breakthrough workout this morning so of course my Garmin is frozen and I'll probably lose the data. I remember my 30 minute power, but didn't see what it was for 20.
