Raincross Ride, did the easy version that sprinters, masters, overweight ppl, guys trying to relive HS, and people that like to scream at things go on. Its not slower, they just skip a climb. First real litmus test, took a few pulls, wasn't bad at all. 1500 KJ's, 180 TSS. Most importantly, my balance was 51/49. When my femur slid out, it was 61/39.

My team mates are killing it this weekend, one took 1st at the SW3/4 crit at Gila, another took 1st SW3 in our local "Koppenburg" road/dirt race.
I wish I could have been at Gila!
Instead, tomorrow I do a 60 minute Open crit. I expect Coryn Rivera and maybe some of her local UHC teamies will be there, since she was in town for the (win at) Koppenburg. Should be "interesting"

Balancing freshness with sharpness is really weird and interesting. Since there was no mid-week intensity the legs felt rusty; added 10-20W to my usual routine along with a couple of extra reps at lower wattages, which seems to have done the trick.

I raced twice today.
With warmups and cooldowns, my total ride time was 3:30...and my NP was 292. 255TSS on the day, TKP is satisfied.

Took most of last week off to let myself get some proper recovery.
60 miler yesterday with mostly z2/z3 on the flats and z4 on the climbs for 236 TSS, but anything anaerobic felt so bad. I always get that after a few days off though.
Flag waving intervals today at the team's annual time trial.

It's refreshing to JRA sometimes. Although I do enjoy intervals and working out - which is how I view my cycling a lot of the time.

Today during my ride I explored the western slopes of Mt. Soledad for the first time - La Jolla Scenic S, and many of the twisty, low-grade roads around it: La Jolla Rancho, Muirlands... just wow. I can probably count on one hand the total number of roads that I have ridden that have been that nice. Takes some climbing and traffic to get up there, but boy is it nice.
Calm, quiet, smooth, with stately trees and tasteful, well maintained lots - fantastic.

Counting commutes (and, for stress purposes, I really need to, now), I just turned in a 16 hour week. Most I've ever done. Legs are pretty much dead.

Road 20 miles SST between supporting my gf during her marathon yesterday, 70 TSS. Group ride today and 235 TSS. Legs were not happy with me for doing a maintenance weight lifting workout Friday. >500 TSS for the week is my biggest week of the year thus far.

That's a lot in four days. I guess I can note that without my commutes I'm just shy of 11 hours for the week, which is still a big volume bump and a little unexpected. Not complaining. No results to speak of in my race this weekend, but my sense is that if I stick with it I should be tolerably fit by midsummer, and may a chance of being legitimately fast come fall.

Last 2 weeks have been brutal; they don't look it training wise but the intensity is there and the weight sessions add to it. I feel stronger but really haven't been able to come up for air to find out. Changing things up a lot and focusing on intensity, trying to build up to 4 hours a week at Z3+.
The weights may be a waste of time, but its something I need to find out myself. I've put a lot of research into it and its a contradictory mess. I know its not going to up my FTP and mostly benefits power under a minute, which is improving. Its also for injury prevention as well, so in some form its here to stay.

Yesterday was a rest day. My legs are still feeling it, but I should be good to go once I warm up. Some intervals planned for this evening - probably 4x10 @ FTP, then 4 x 1 min @ >140% FTP in the Gatineau hills. None of the climbs are longer than about 5 - 6 min, so the 10 min threshold intervals force me to hold back on the uphills and keep on the gas as I go over the top.

I'm pretty amazed at the weekly TSS numbers dudes are posting here while in season (I assume you're in season, anyway).
Today's 1.5hrs recovery.

Outside of Tuesday night crits and Wednesday world's in the Gatineau hills, my next race is in June
When the kids are a bit older I should be able to travel to race more in the NE tho.

I raced twice on back to back days, so that's where most of mine came from. I probably should have gone into the weekend a bit more rested though. I think the real fatigue comes from getting up at 4:30 each morning to set up the course. I don't know how CDR does it.
