2hrs easy. Basically all my rides til Killington are going to be variations on easy. Not the most fun thing in the world but it works. Also I lost weight again so I'm like, forcing myself to eat way more than I want.

I rode outside today for the first time since I trashed myself. 1:40 at what used to be recovery pace but is harder now with my Cat5 fitness. I tried to focus on just being out there in 80 degree weather. Cruising along on the flats at 21-22mph just taking in the scenes on the MUP. It was hard on my hand and shoulders but that was expected. I saved my last Yard Owl farmhouse ale for this day and it is sure going down nicely. Thanks GC!

A meh ending to a odd week. Under 300 TSS, one 24 hour shift at work followed by a race (which I got shelled), and a ton of rest. Going in I was -40 TSB and felt it, coming out feel fresh. Next 3 week block is going to be just as tough, I'd really like to do something special before the end of the season, and I'm going to have to work for it.
@shovelhd glad you are back on the road.

Hey, I know some very fit cat 5s. We can mock them for being sucky bike racers though! And I shudder to think what your speeds are on the MUP when you're doing tempo Welcome back!

The weather was great here last week so I rode my bike 6 days (2 of the days were very easy) and I ended up with 15 hours, over 12k climbing. Also fit in some Yoga and swimming. I guess the good thing about not having a "training plan" is being able to extend rides whenever I want! :-)

I wouldn't have known how easy it was if you didn't add the additional lll's.

I seriously wish I had hills around to train on, because I cant climb for ****. This weekend sucked and yesterday was considered flat by most of the people that live in that area. Strava says 1000 feet for the 3 laps that I did. I would have to try really hard to get anywhere near that here..and if I did it would be on a really long ride.

While having training climbs is great for breaking up monotony, if you do the right types of intervals and watch your diet climbing is not necessarily required to get good at climbing.
Edit: Pre coffee...mean to say it's basically w/kg, you get more watts by doing the right intervals, you get less kg by riding lots and dieting.

Im sure it would help some. And im still working on the weight..because racing against guys (and tiny juniors) that weigh a lot less than me doesn't help things either.

Dude tell me about it, I'm as light as I can get and there's still dudes that weigh 15-20lbs less than me. The plus side for you is that I generally find guys that race well and are large can pull like monster trucks.

I'm down to 180ish from 190.. I'm just big boned..I weighed 175 with a 30 inch waist. I suck at climbing too..but I still torture myself.

Our Tuesday Worlds brings out most of the town's cyclists, especially the High School kids. Some of them have waists thinner than my quads, and they pretty much destroy me on those hills. Its all power to weight when it comes to climbing.
Hills are important, if anything to make cycling less monotonous. Still, you can still be fast without them. There is some benefit in having to train at threshold in the flats. On hills I just set the gears to whatever I can push @80-90 rpm, in the flats you have to hammer hard and look out for wind changes.
I got about 10 lbs to lose now and I'm honestly tired of waking up at 4am hungry.

I did the Mt Diablo TT yesterday and a 10yr kid did it in like 1:10.xx that is pretty impressive to me... when you weigh nothing.. you don't need much power.

Kayaked yesterday for about 3 hours. Planned to follow that up with some riding, but I was wiped out. Sickness is gone and back to training this week.

Ended after kayaking. Was beat and lost the drive to ride, but still a nice day to be out.
Also, taking 10 days off from being sick killed the ctl. Dropped from about 100 down to low 70s...ugh.

Felt flat in this weekend's racing, after resting hard all last week.
But it was needed; time to start building back up!
