Shovel already made this point, but you just can't afford to adopt this attitude. You can train to improve your sprint. You may never get fast enough to win a pack sprint, but even if you make the break, most of the time you need to outsprint the other guys if you want to win.

One other thing to consider would be the sad reality of physics... Both riders in the picture have the same w/kg (roughly). The one on the right will be "faster" than the one on the left all other things being equal. If you aren't a high wattage guy, you will need lots of help. If you are a high wattage guy, you may need less help but need to be willing to put those watts out for the duration.
