Taking a few kids to Knights Ferry on Feb 7. Any city/hotel places to stay you recommend? We are driving from SoCal on Friday. We might do a lap Friday night.

This is a tune-up ride for VOS. The finish is a slight negative grade, so not my first choice for junior gears, but should be a nice less competitive race.

Yeah that's the one; confusing b/c the start is different than the finish.
Finish climb is at about 17.2 miles into that route, at the top of the bump; a 2 minute climb.

Great news - if they don't change it. Puppy has never lost an uphill sprint he had energy to engage (first time for everything).
Are you doing it?

I dropped my chain on the "climb" and took > 90 seconds to get it back on last year in that race, and subsequently got dropped from the peloton.. so hoping to at least improve on that result this time around!
But don't worry about me or my team though, we're super weak! =]

One of my jobs is to help Puppy sniff out sand baggers -
It is much different when you don't know the players. If you would send a list of those to watch out for, I'd appreciate it.
Our director isn't there and I like them to figure it out for themselves. They can't develop the art when someone else is holding their hand.

After a few months of this, every time I see "puppy" I vomit a little bit. Doesn't your kid have initials. Isn't he like 17? 18?

How about Mike or his real first name or initial? Better yet, why filter the kid's results and impressions via a 3rd party. Let the kid post himself. Maybe there is no internet access in the hypoxic tent.

One of you mods gave Daniel his "Puppy" name. I'm very open to some change - no issue using his name.
But as I've mentioned - I do race, Daniel just does the pedaling.
As for it being strange to 3rd party post, that's just cause old guys are doing this sport.
Its a different sport and different forum than where I spend my last 7 years. Forums - Powered by vBulletin
I know of one player that posts on that forum.

My kid hung on for a tough 4th this morning in the 9-12 juniors race at Cal Aggie this morning. He went hard from the whistle , did too much work, and got dropped by the lead group in the crosswind. Excellent learning experience.

I wouldn't think the money would be flowing in, just wondering if they've added something new to the races this year. New venues perhaps (which could lead to increased permit fees)?

Really they should just skip all the wine, and those hats, and have us race for jack ****. Like that would stop anyone from coming out!
