Got it. In the context of disc brakes, I can see the issues. Not having ridden with them I was unaware of those issues.

raced a whole season on a 1x narrow/wide without chain guide or clutch RD and never once dropped a chain.

can certainly be done - not 100% ideal, but works better than folks seem to think.

after joking for years about my lack of a cyclometer...i ordered a 520. really honestly most interested in the mapping capabilities for when i travel or for more "destination" based rides.

Started gluing tubulars for the first time today. Brushing glue onto the base tape reminds me of painting bare wood...the tape pretty much sucked in the first coat. Three coats of glue so far for both the tires and the rims.

What is the best setup for flats and hills? Now i use on my road bike 53/39 crank and 9 speeds cassete 12-25. In flats is okay i have do max speed 27.9 miles. But when the hills come my speed is drop much is very annyoning that. With the 39 ring and the 25 cog hills is very hard my RD is short cage. What cassete is better?

Spoonrobot 08-15-15 07:29 PM

What model rear derailleur?

3 coats as in 3 coats on the rim, 3 coats on the tire?

That's a lot of glue.

That's what the instructions said on the can (Specialized).

Gluing tubulars feels so 19th century. Still, gotta do it myself in the next day or two.

Finally on 11-speed. Put Rival 22 on the road bike. Huh, this stuff works a heck of a lot better than the 10-speed version.

It had been most of 5 years since I was last on a road bike when I threw a leg over my new Rival 22-equipped bike.

First thing I thought: Man, this feels like OG 10 speed Red.

Two words:

Liver polyps.

dz_nuzz 08-16-15 06:53 PM

I should probably re-glue my tubulars....

Only did 2 coats. Then again I will never race crits on them so...dunno.

revchuck 08-16-15 06:59 PM

My co-worker at the LBS, who has been doing this for ~30 years, told me that the Specialized glue was the thinnest he had seen. That might factor into it.

Sazeracs cure liver polyps.

will a dura ace 7800 or 7900 crankset work properly on an ultegra 11-sp equipped drivetrain?

Poutine in Charleston would be akin to red beans and rice in Banff.

furiousferret 08-18-15 03:20 PM

If I were to eat that stuff, I'd be inclined to say the word 'eh' after every sentence for at least an hour, eh...

You might get a little FD run at the extremes that may or may not be able to be dialed out.
