No...it had more to do with the prevailing conditions and something that happened during the (closing) part of the race....

ha ha - it was the cars that had to keep off the road as they closed one side of a section of the motorway for either the road race or TT.

I think the real answer was to give water out to the NZ riders as they missed the feed station or something.

Scott Gogeun attacked Graeme Miller and Brian Fowler just as they entered the feed so they had to chase and miss their bidons for a lap. It was about 35 degrees, so TV told people who live on the course to come out with their hoses to keep the local boys cool.
