I put in for it. It must have been a late permit because it just showed up on the officials site this week.

rapha sale brings stuff from "stupidly expensive" to "kind of reasonable." tempted to buy some stuff even though i hate everything they're about.

in other news - bought a ti cross frame. if this doesn't help me grow a beard, nothing will.

Missed responding.

Part of it is that I do a lot of trainer rides. I post them because on a fluid trainer they're sort of similar to a flatter road ride. My crits seem to say 0 feet elevation (New Britain, Rent, Ninigret). My 15.5 mile loop has 300 feet, give or take, but I don't train outside very much.

I did 1400+ feet on one training ride from my dad's. I remember being pretty tired after that ride.

Each Bethel I raced was 1550-1600 feet, 7 races there, about 10k feet, so that's half of my elevation.

Tell me about being an official. My team needs someone to do this and I am thinking about doing it. My only concern is that it becomes a time sink where I have to do it when I would rather be riding/racing. What is the expectation for how many weekends you are committed to working per season.

Hot here at home but just beautiful up in the mountains. A small group and bf member Biker395 came along. This guy has done a bunch of endurance racing so our little 7 hour rides are just a warm-up to him, plus he's in great shape right now.

He was telling stories about the pastor at his church and his wife and their many health issues, both have had heart attacks, falls down stairs, etc. He said something about how terrible it is getting old, and how the pastor will soon have to retire.
I asked, "How old are these people?" "About my age" came his reply, (he's 58). I said, "You realize you're the youngest one here, right?"

How it works depends on your LA (local association). I can only speak for NEBRA. I took an all day class, and passed a test to get my Cat C license. This is like Cat 5 on the road. You know enough to be dangerous. You can work most races once you get your Cat C but you are restricted to certain roles (read: plebe) in the UCI races. To move up to Cat B, you need at least one year of experience, plus you need to pass 11 module tests as well as get experience in each module that is verified by the LA coordinator. If you are assigned a role that is not one of the 11, too bad, you lose. That's just the way it goes. To answer your question, at least in NEBRA, there is no minimum or maximum number of races you need to do every year. Once you get your license, as long as you pay for it every year, you get to keep it. I have met Cat C's that have been Cat C's for years. They have no desire or intention to move up. I have also met Cat B's that have upgraded in a year. It all depends on what your goals are. My goal is to get to Cat B so that a) I can work in any role in any race and b) it is a prerequisite for motoref.

Ok boys I think I might be getting scammed here or someone laying the foundation...

I decided to give online dating a go and things have been pretty quiet until today when this hot 38 year old showed some interest. She immediately moved stuff off the site onto gmail and sent some photos. Nothing racy, but enough that got me thinking this is too good to be true.... Remember I'm 47 here... I asked her where in Hamilton she lived and she responded with a street and postal code. I thought that was very odd. She says she's originally from Ireland, but her English is not the best. We're not talking Nigerian Princess bad, but not at the level I would expect.

The last email she asked for some pics of me which got me thinking identity theft attempt....

I haven't divulged personal info, but she/he does have my name from my gmail account...

All I keep thinking is if it's too good to be true... She is hot

Go with your gut. Sounds like it's time to meet up in person, but I would plan a location in advance and make sure you have an out (if someone other than her shows or she is sketchy).

I met two women that I met basically over the phone. I dated one, actually one from up your way (Simcoe I think, first time I drove up I met her in Dunnville after driving there from work). She and I actually lived together for a while. After a bit (year?) in the US she moved back, with my help. She worried some of my friends but I never saw her do anything that would raise a red flag, like ask for money or loads of material things. She prided herself in saving me money and she got a job so she could buy me things. Definitely an adventure from the beginning.

My gut is throwing up the red flags big time. I find it odd she hasn't looked at my profile, but has asked stuff that is on it. She's also coming on real strong. I'm more concerned this an attempt at identify theft more then anything.

I think I'll focus on the lady that a coworker pointed me towards. At least I know she's real..

Online dating is great, but you still have to meet and assess before any personal info gets divulged. I met my GF online and it's almost a year. Contrarily her online profile pic was attractive but completely understated when compared to face to face. I was definitely pleasantly surprised.
She is 12 years younger but that was just inconsequential.
My take is you are on a dating site for which reason ?
Casual encounters or developing a serious relationship ? Might want to know which equation to solve before heading too far downstream.

I met my current gf this way. We communicated via online message/text for about month before we decided to meet in person. I've also had some pretty terrible dates with women I've met through online dating. There are a lot scammers out there looking for identity theft and cc numbers. Anyone who tries online dating needs to keep in mind that there are a lot of dishonest people out there looking to scam people, but there are also people who generally want to meet someone as well. Use your best judgement I guess

What's the consensus on foam rolling again? I've never tried it, but I'm having some pain in the right glute that I think rolling and stretching might help. I have a gift card to REI that I want to use, so my options for a roller are slightly limited. Anyone use the trigger point grid thingy? Thoughts?

I suspect that dating sites have some percentage of women hoping that you will pay them for their time.

Is that the one that has all the knobbies on it? If so i have it and use it on my glutes exclusively. It digs in nicely and loosens stuff up. For the rest of my legs I use a standard stiff foam roller. I notice it helps keep things loose. This really noticeable when I go for a massage. If I've been regularly using it then the massage is a lot less painful.

I'm looking into getting a gopro for my bike. I want to mount on the actual bike as opposed to the helmet. Any recommendations for idea locations to mount?

Get a K-Edge and mount it on the handlebar.
