If I get into track seriously again, I'm buying folding rollers. Carrying full size rollers is a pain in the ass.

I have some rollers that've been in the basement about 20 years. I don't think they ever got much use.
I'll dust them off and take a look.

I'm watching Dodgers Diamondbacks baseball (wife is out of town and I refuse to give money to Mayweather) and the announcer sounds like Frank Deford from NPR to me, but I don't think it is. I can't figure out who it is though, he hasn't said his name or anything. He's got that old timey delivery and voice.

Vin Scully (Dodgers Announcer for 40 years)

adding to big sports night, Clips Spurs was crazy, and my dalmation actually paid attention to the Kentucky Derby until he noticed there weren't any Clydesdales.

Yep, thank you. I got there once I saw him. Great voice. Actually looks like it's more like 60 years or so. Crazy.

Yeah, that Clippers/Spurs was pretty great. The Derby I watched the actual race (a 4 hour telecast for 2 minutes of racing is insane, sorry) but I was watching car racing and stuff otherwise, plus a little baseball and some hockey. Talladega tomorrow, plus Endurance Racing at Laguna Seca, and LBL is on the TV (not sure when it actually occured, I don't keep track of pro cycling much, so don't ruin it).

That's exactly what happened to mine, though mine took a couple of decades. I like them, and they have resistance on them but they don't make them anymore. I assume you tossed yours?

This is an interesting looking unit. Too expensive though.

It's tiny and it's rollers (no messing with the rear wheel or QR).

kreitler makes a front wheel stand that functions similarly, though is much much bigger.

mikey, the point is that allowing the rear of the bike to move fluidly is much more comfortable, I think. I hate my TT bike on the trainer. I hate it on the rollers too, but it's ... less hate.

From the Sportcrafters website:
Race warm-up bike trainer that fits in a carry-on bag and provides real-road resistance.
Portability seems to be the main selling point

And, if it's the one with the progressive resistance, it does a fairly decent job of increasing resistance the faster you go. Kind of like a fluid trainer that way. They have a bunch of power curves that apparently back that up, I don't really know about reading power data.

Hmph. Somewhat embarrassed by my showing in the 3/4 at Lime Rock yesterday. Happy to have gone for it in the break, no regrets even though we got caught. Well, I regret that the strongest guy in the break got distracted by yelling at somebody who wasn't working, and then threw in the towel too soon, but people are gonna do what they do. It was fun to be working with TKP for a half hour.

I do regret racing dumb and impatiently after the catch. It was like a replay of Harlem last year. I'm distracted by chasing upgrade points and in a 3/4 field it makes me race without humility, as GMT puts it. I raced like I deserved to win, with predictably lame results.

The masters race was a lot of fun though, much more strategic. Racing is playing, that's the purpose and the goal, it's important to keep that in mind.

Already posted em here, thanks Looking at photos of the catch. NCC strong dude was like "call it guys, they got us, we're done", I was like "no we're not done!" We were totally not done, we should have gone again right then and there. Bah.

That dude was wrong, the field was strung out and splitting from the pressure and we could've at least forced a legit separation if we couldn't make the break stick.

If that was Scott he's a friend of mine who rides for my club. Good guy, tons of power, needs to learn how to race more effectively. He just started being coached by JPow's coach, so give him time, and don't be afraid to tell him what to do.

Yes, that's him. Very strong kid. I talked to him for a while after the race but he wasn't in a state to hear advice. But, just to get it off my chest:

- Strongest guy in the break should not get distracted by some other guy who is not pulling his weight. Work with what you have (important life lesson). Yell at him to pull through so he doesn't slow things down, go around him if he doesn't, worry about dropping him later if you care.

- He was occasionally gapping us up the hill by a couple of bike lengths (which turned into "5 seconds" in the retelling after the race), then sitting up in frustration. He should have just powered through, we'd come back together on the descent.

- Never give up before you're caught! He sat up when we still had a few seconds on a chase group that itself had a few seconds on the field. Go harder, attack again, commit.

Watching from the field, when that second group went, I thought the two groups would merge and ride away. However the field never let the second group go. Eventual second place rider was in it so some power guys. The second place guy won a big race in PA a short time ago.

Was the guy sitting FGX? They had a lot of guys at the front of the field, wondering if he was playing the team game. In the past I've watched them (like our team) make the right moves but simply lack the power to follow through. It's like if I got into the break, I'd be useless, but it'd be a good move so to speak.
