Thanks for the company and moral support today, GMT. Your buddy and I were having a fine old time in the medical tent, even though he couldn't remember anything after lining up for the race. When the doc was asking him concussion questions I kept wanting to give him hints. Also the medical tent ran out of sutures. That race is a little nuts.

I have a family of 12 quail chowing down outside my office window.

Quail are like, a few thousand years from becoming flightless.

I called his brother who was driving him home and said he was ok at the time. Hopefully he'll call me tomorrow.

That's just about enough to chow down on.

Good vibes and healing thoughts to all the injured BFers.

I used to eat quail and even hunted them decades ago. Then I lived in the mountains and they were all around with their families and tiny chicks, almost like pets in the yard. Don't think I could eat one now.

2 crashes with 2 to go in turns 3 and 4 in my field. I sat up at that point because GMSR is more important. It looked like 25 guys went down in all, it was a bit ridiculous. For whatever reason this course is bringing the sketch out in people, it doesn't strike me as unusually technical or unsafe.

I think it's the combination of downtown, NCC, state champs, and a bunch of throttle points on the course. And it wasn't untechnical. Turn 4 was wide to narrow, uphill to downhill, had some ripples in the pavement, and 125 meters to the line -- bad combination.

Id be interested to hear a race report from anyone who did the day two pro races since the direction was reversed. Uphill sprint and narrow to wide at turn four.

It's true, I guess I was taking advantage of my tallness; I sat up on the hoods most of the time so I could see over everyone. I don't think it was untechnical, I just think it's no worse than say, rockleigh or GMSR's crit. Nutmeg it is not, nor bethel.

Loved it. So much better. More technical in terms of challenges to ride efficiently, probably, but simultaneously seemingly safer in that I had far less scary moments where the curb got a little too close. All my teammates and the couple of others I chatted with seemed to agree. It was so much more fun today.

I finally got his reply a few days late

The ride around the lake is good. Also the alpes are very close so any of the famous climbs: alpes d'huez, le glandon, le cormet de roselend, le galibier. Etc. it depends on how much driving he wants to do. I'm sure theres something close by but I don't know the area well.

You should share that with the race organizers.

Nice to meet you BTW. Obviously I didn't start the 35+ as I was busy bleeding, hope you had a good one.

So nothing was broken? Was there no dirt to rub in that? Wuss.

Home office. As per northern emus waiting to evolve: I've been married 29 years. That would be the number the divorce lawyers would use for the settlement if I plated any of them. She won't let me shoot the rabbits either. I eat both.

As Big John noted, they've become pets. I'm not shooting Ridley either, though she's well marbled.

We've had a dove nest that's been reused 4 times above the front door.

Agreed. You don't need an intact top tube if you have good core strength.

Nice to meet you, too. I had lots of fun and tried really hard and often, but nothing worked for me. I feel like I got a lot better at racing my bike, though, especially Sunday. Hope you're feeling much better.

They were notified in a separate email from the claim form - which was also truthfully filled out. I do not plan on calling them and hunting this down.
