Interesting, can definitely see how someone could go down that rabbit hole
A Public Service Announcement About Testosterone and You - Cyclocross Magazine - Cyclocross News, Races, Bikes, Photos, Videos

In my practice, I have certainly seen guys that have low numbers and the symptoms of low energy, depressed mood, low libido etc. I have seen some pretty impressive results on testosterone replacement as well. However, a lot of times, these depressed numbers are a symptom of another problem. Pharma has tried to convince us that this is a process of aging and to some extent it is, but the more common causes I see are obesity or physical/psychological stress. Obesity is not the issue for most of the group reading this, but the latter sure is. Overtraining will drop your T like a rock. I’ve seen plenty of overtrained 25-year-old athletes with an 80-year-old’s testosterone. Because of this, it’s easy for an athlete to “qualify” for testosterone. Think about it, the Masters athlete who is trying to balance training and a stressful job and family feels fatigued, grouchy, poor recovery, and low—that’s all of us at some point in the season.

This, of course, is not because of low T, the low T is usually a result of life. Testosterone will often help with these symptoms, but that’s analogous to taking cholesterol meds and continuing to eat cheeseburgers. Thanks to the inundation of testosterone ads to patients and doctors, male endurance athletes are prime targets to fall prey to the thought that they need to be on testosterone, and sadly, doctors who are pressed for time and only look at lab numbers can often get a low number on any masters athlete coming off a hard block of training.

Testosterone is a banned substance because it works 100% of the time. Any use gives that athlete an advantage over a similar athlete who doesn’t use it. As a fellow racer, it’s easy to look at your performance and think, “Man, I feel like something is off,” and if your doctor says your T is low, then you can easily go down that rabbit hole. Most guys aren’t consciously thinking about developing a sophisticated doping plan to win the Cat 4 series, rather, they want to simply race well and feel good.

You could probably find a Six-13 for less than a Caad 9 at this point. I had one. I cracked it. (It's now wall art in my office.) But mine was one of the older ones based off the Caad 8, with three carbon tubes.

My current bike is a Six13. Its been a great bike..but im considering getting a caad12 to replace it. So much corrosion on my six13..bottom bracket, seat tube, cable stops..not sure what kind of structural damage it has caused but I don't know that I want to keep racing on it as bad as it is getting.

Also 1700 for a road bike with 105? Really?

The 9's were 1300 for 105.

Mine ('15 Allez Comp Race) was $2900 at MSRP. Of course, I work at a Specialized LBS, so that's not what I paid for it, and it came with wheels that go for $1700 MSRP.

The 9's were 1300 for 105.
That was at least five years ago, and 11 speed 105 is worlds better than 5700. Shoot, it's better than the 7900 on my Look 585.

I'm planning on photographing some extra stuff I have to put up for sale in the appropriate place on this forum. What size should I keep the file to show adequate detail but not clog up the system?

I'd go 640x480 or thereabouts, unless the stuff has some bad scratches, than make it really small

Any other input for why my shifters are annoyed?

Right. But that's definitely price creep in action. And I'm guessing they're some version of roval wheels? I don't remember reading good things about them in the past but perhaps that's changed. The CAAD12 comes with aksiums which are meh last I checked.

Still pretty crazy that a 105 bike is 1700 for starters from Cannondale. I'm sure I'd love it but that just seems expensive. I bet my 7800 stuff and frame are pretty much worthless at this point. Oh well.

I guess it comes with the Si crank stock, which is clutch. And it's a 52/36 which I think is pretty much the ultimate all around crankset for a road bike. So that's nice.

I have no idea if/when I'll buy another bicycle again haha. I'd like to get actually fast again before even contemplating that factor. I know for a fact that my equipment isn't holding me back at all haha.

Speaking of shifters, let it be known that Sram shifters are just as capable of eating cable heads as shimano. RIP, and thank jeebus I have a spare.

That was the weird thing though. Cable heads were fine when I pulled them off. I mean I guess the housing was old, but that shouldn't have led to this and the issue still persists.

I did use the same plastic housing 'ends' from the old set. The metal DA ones didn't play nice with the inline cable adjusters I have.

Shrug, I have made a habit of breaking things in really odd ways. Bike gear death toll is in the double digits for 2015...

Also have you looked at the actual FD? Mine died earlier this year due to a worn out spring and a lot of winter grit.

edit: TKP learned to read! It's not the front derailleur. Hrm... mehbeh the limiter screw got knocked out of whack somehow? Is the derailleur braze-on? Cuz if soo maybe the braze on is a bit loose?

I'll check those things tomorrow. I'm just confused because when it shifts, it shifts fine. I just can't consistently get the shifter to engage when I'm trying to get it to the little ring. Shifts to the big ring are consistent.

It sounds to me like your shifter is busted and the mechanism won't consistently release the cable tension. Older SRAM rival shifters are known for this.

IMO Roval wheels have been really excellent the last couple of years. I don't care for Mavics as they are "system" wheels that need to either be repaired with Mavic proprietary stuff or thrown away.

My wife's bike came with some Roval wheels. I've been pretty impressed with them. They seem pretty light - her whole bike is light - and they have wider rims. She did manage to break some spokes, but she's pretty brutal on wheels in general.

As for Mavics, I've never really had a problem with them. The one time I crashed on my old Ksyriums and needed to have spokes replaced, I was surprised to find my LBS had them in stock. When I commented that I had hear they were hard to get, the LBS owners basically said Mavics are so common, it only makes sense to have a handful of back up spokes on hand.

As far as real estate goes, I am about to start doing some deals with my father. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but basically, we buy a lot, hold it for six months, builder puts a house on it, then we sell it and make lots of money.
