I think, or hope, he meant something else, which I have at least 4 hilarious replies to, but cannot post for fear of getting banned.

USAC has deemed that my CAT1 license from OR (OBRA) is not sufficient for an upgrade from 2->1 in USAC.

I'm not surprised, but kind of disappointed. Not a huge deal for someone who isn't going to race on the road more than a handful of times a year, and won't do any NRC races, but still... lame.

I suppose it's time to start knocking out some local crits. I'm hoping being the anonymous dude that no one knows will prevent them from chasing breaks down out of spite.

Been away from the forum for far too long and was poked by someone to post up how the year has been going so far. DUke, the anonymity may work for a race or two but you will quickly have a target on your back.

I come from the old school of racing my way into fitness. I'm trying to get back into race shape to be able to get back to the NRC, USA Crit, UCI stuff. THis year will just be getting reaquainted with the pain. Pull weight over the winter then be up to speed for next year.
Racing at 228 is tough when you outweigh guys by 50 or more pounds.

Not sure yet. Trying to get in as many as possible but you know some of my home issues which prevent me from getting to some of the stuff I want to get to. Just playing by ear on a lot of it. WOuld like to get to the USA Crit Series finals for sure and may take a run at Masters Nationals in Ogden but I'm just figuring it out as I go.

Welcome back! Not surprised to see you pull out at Cedar Hill. I did that the first year and honestly it was one of the sketchiest races I've ever done. Although it was the 3/4 that freaked me out, not the 1/2/3. Pretty nice results overall, if this is you not being in shape...

Grolby it's funny. I did the Master's race and we had a blast though it was tough. Then in the 1/2/3 it was sketchy start to finish. With 5 to go they rung the bell for a preme and I jumped to come through and get it. I was doing somewhere around 40 when two guy sat up, changed lines and came together while taking a drink. I went on the brakes as hard as I could to avoid it. THen I watched a few go up on the grass in turn one. I decided I had already had a good weekend of racing so I sat up and pretended to paddle a canoe across the line. Vicki burst out laughing and asked why so I told her and she was chucklin.

3/22 - Tour of St. Louis Sunday crit - 1st/46
3/22 - Tour of St. Louis Omnium - 1st
4/4 - Lincoln Park Cat 3 crit - 1st/52
4/4 - Lincoln Park P123 crit - 21st/67
4/11 - Blackhawk Farms Spring Super Crit - Cat 3 - 3rd/50

4/25 - Whitnall Park Spring Classic Cat 3 crit - 2nd/8
4/25 - Whitnall Park Spring Classic P123 crit - 12th/24
5/1 - La Crosse Omnium - Cat 3 uphill TT - 1st/30
5/2 - La Crosse Omnium - Cat 3 crit - 3rd/47
5/3 - La Crosse Omnium - Cat 3 RR - 9th/47
5/3 - La Crosse Omnium - Cat 3 - 3rd overall
5/9 - Muskego Park Cat 3 crit - 8th/17
5/9 - Muskego Park P123 crit - 14th/39
5/16 - Wheel and Sprocket Cat 3 crit - 2nd/8
5/16 - Wheel and Sprocket P123 crit - 4th/23

5/23 - Palmyra Road Race - P123 - DNF
5/25 - Concordia University Crit - Cat 3 - 3rd/8
5/25 - Concordia University Crit - P123 - 6th/12

I've recently upgraded to a 2. It was time. Being excessively marked in every single cat 3 race got frustrating. I'll be doing 1-2 more races before the Tour of America's Dairyland later in June. 11 races in 11 days... the best part of summer and living in Wisconsin.

Have you noticed a huge improvement in the ability of bikes to handle your power now? Old steel bikes felt like they were going to break. I think someone 228 could do stuff now, where in the memorable past, there was no way.

Upgrades are on starters, not finishers. Many races don't list the DNFs - they should. USAC will most likely use what you say if you are using it for upgrade points. SoCal RR - in the hard RR's (Pontus, Vlee Huis, Punchbowl) it is common for 2/3 of the field to bug out before the last lap. I have video of the starts, but have not had to use it. Juniors sandbag anyway. One race (CBR Carson) the promoter in flip flops, cargo pants and T-shirt pinned a number on (< 4 pins !) and started and dropped out 1st corner to get the point value up. Pretty funny, and clever I thought.

I've only done 10 races this year. 8 podiums. No wins. What a weird year.
