Bikes: 1982 Bridgstone Altair, Serotta Track

I ride these old (80s) campy track pedals i got as hand me downs, and both sets came with some sort of "high quality" european leather straps, which had already been used for years of track use. I' have had them for almsot two years, one year on "road bike use" and on brakeless fixed, there are still in decent shape, despite getting wet, though there get abraded as they tend to rub the crank arm during revolutions, cause i have big feet. Maybe the quality has changed in recent years?

I also dont tighten and losen my straps though, i just have them loose enough to get in and out of.
